Very helpful and lots of information!
I was skeptical about how helpful a safari guidebook could be when it covers 8 countries/destinations at only 520ish pages, but I was happily surprised! They provided a ton of helpful information on local and international tour operators, ways to save money that aren't your typical "visit in the off-season" tips, and laid everything out by country, region, and national park. Was prepared to have to return, but will definitely be keeping this book!

Helpful for sure
We travel frequently and have been to 40+ countries. We have not been to anywhere in Africa. This book is very helpful when planning a trip to the continent, especially if planning a safari. There is a lot of information that is different from “normal” travel. This book helped to educate me before contacting a travel agent. Would also allow you to plan most of a vacation on your own as well.

Complete guide book for sure.
Planning an African Safari this is a wonderful guide to pick up. It has recommendations of local tour operators, details of all the animals, parks and countries you might plan to visit. I will be bringing the book with me on the trip. It's worth the weight added to the carry on.

Great starting place for planning a safari trip
Calling this a "complete" guide is a bit of an overstatement, but it really is a good starting point for someone who has never been on safari. It provides an overview of the prime safari areas with enough information to help decide which ones are of interest. It would be a mistake to think that this book provides enough information for the average traveler to book a trip. Most people will want to engage with a Safari Tour Operator (as the book itself recommends). However, even as one gets deeper into the planning process this book is a valuable resource is sorting through some of the details.

A must reference for your African Safari
I am planning a trip to Africa -- specifically a safari. This book is great -- it includes most the countries. It provides a lot of detail regarding weather, time of year to travel for animals. What you should consider in choosing a safari tour operator I have been on several vacations internationaly but it seems overwhelming picking a safari with all the choices, countries, animals and weather conditions. This book is a great start.
