Curt Manufacturing 19745 Adjustable Tow Bar

Put it on my jeep cherokee crawler, to tow behind my truck to the desert. Had an incident that proved to be one hell of a stress test on it. The jeep was out of order and we were getting a run at my driveway that has a big curb at the beginning. So we put a bungie on the tow bar to hold it up and used a 4 wheeler to get the jeep up to speed to pop over the curb. It all sounded good at the time. So we got the jeep up to about 20mph, slam on the brakes with the 4 wheeler, and right before the curb, the bungie pop off and the tow bar drop to the ground, the jeep pushed the towbar right into the curb. P0W..... the front of the jeep flew up in the air and was resting with the towbar flip backwards with the front axle on top of it. It bent the ends of the unaframe, but when we got the jeep off the towbar, the mounts were perfect, the towbar was perfect. The jeep, well, she got some needed reinforcement. Good buy, would totally buy again.

Well built. Being fully adjustable is great. The only thing it lacks are safety chains. I pulled a 2000 Silverado with it a couple times. Saved me a ton over calling a tow truck. Took about 20 mins to drill holes and install. Once attached, it was very sturdy and held up well in its use. After each use I checked all the fasteners and all had stayed at proper torque specs. I would recommend for light, occasional use. Don't know how it would do for long trips. Always a good idea to stop and look everything over if using on long trip anyway. Hope this helps.

Easy to install, item was as described

Good quality, we had to wind up adding a little bit of a welded attachment for our 2010 Buick enclave but it worked out great! We just needed it to be a hair wider. But overall no issues towed from MT to FLA in snow rain and sun.

Used this for the first time and put a total of 1,200 miles on it. Drove mostly interstate but a few short gravel roads on the trip. I checked the bolts at every stop and there was no signs of loosening or wear of any kind. The packaging was completely trashed when it arrived (assume that is why I got it cheaper from the specific retailer), but all items were included and it was unused in box. I bolted this directly to my TJ factory bumper which required drilling a couple extra holes. I also bought some larger diameter grade 5 washers and doubled them up with what was included in the box. No complaints and not afraid to tow this again and again. First trip I was a little nervous because I had never flat towed anything before. Worked flawlessly.

Make sure to tighten the bolts by the ball hitch! I had mine snug but it still moved around a little during my trip. I kept hearing funny sounds when I turned and it was because my nuts were two loose. I welded 4 peaces 3/8 plates with a 5/8 bolt for backup to my Tacoma frame. The ends of the tow bar were slightly smaller than the width of the frame and fit perfectly inside each set of plates. I couldn't use the brackets that came with it because I think they are for jeep bumpers or a solid metal bumper. I cut flaps in my Tacoma plastic bumper so when the tow bar isnt there the flaps cover the holes. The only hard part of my setup is I have to reach under my bumper to put the pins in.

I bought this product to haul a project truck rather than renting a trailer and built a bracket based off the description. Unfortunately this product did not expand to the correct dimensions it described in the description. I got about 1 1/2” less width than advertised so the bracket did not work.

Delivered with box ripped open at top and parts missing no bolts and one bar missing so absolutely useless
