Great even for commercial use!
I debated a long time before buying this due to the mixed reviews. I have an Etsy shop and was looking to add buttons to my product lineup. I couldn’t afford a big professional maker, but the cost for this wasn’t exactly a drop in the bucket either. When it arrived I was surprised at how heavy it was. It has some sturdy high quality metal. Assembly was easy with the Allen wrench it came with and the basic instructions. Making the actual buttons was where the reviews diverge and I think that is because it’s hard to visualize what exactly you need to do from the instructions. There are a few good YouTube videos that helped me with that. I recommend searching them up. They show you how to line the molds up properly for each step and that makes a big difference. Some of the tips I have: • Make sure that your mylar is not stuck together. They are sticky and if you have more than one you won’t get a clean button. • Use a glue stick to glue your image onto the metal. It prevents it from wiggling when you press. • Make sure your image and your button back are turned straight so that the pin will face up correctly when finished. • Hold the press down about 5 seconds for your second press. It makes sure the mylar has time to set into its shape. • Use the right paper. You don’t want a thick paper, but still want your images to look crisp. I bought a package of matte presentation paper here on Amazon and it has worked very well. The brand I bought was epson, but there are other brands that would work. • The circle cutter is garbage. Don’t expect to be able to use it. I purchased a large hole punch (also on Amazon) to make my circles. Make sure it cuts 1/4-1/2 inch bigger than your finished buttons. With the YouTube videos and my tips you should be able to make high quality buttons with no problems. Out of the hundred or so I’ve made so far I have only mis-punched maybe 5 buttons and those were where my tips come from. My press was also very loud initially, but a bit of WD-40 fixed it right up. Good luck, and get creative!

Good machine for the money, good company
I got this for a Christmas present for the family and didn't open it until May. We have the 2" one from this brand, no issues. This one, when we set it up, wasn't quite working right, so I emailed the company. It was apparent it had been damaged in shipping and they sent a replacement right away! The new one works as it should, no muss, no fuss! Highly recommend.

good but I have thoughts
good machine however I have thoughts. I’ve been making bigger buttons with a 58mm machine for several years now so I know how to troubleshoot things. one of the problems i’ve had is when you go to press the mylar & design together you have to pull that middle piece out from the top each time instead of it naturally like falling down when you move the design toward the back. not sure if any of that made sense but basically if you’re new to making buttons you’ll have to troubleshoot a bit and it might waste some supplies. otherwise i like the machine. the back portion has fallen out a few times so I don’t love that but it’s still a good machine and that’s can be screwed back in. i like having smaller sizes of the buttons Ive already made

Doesn't function
Crimped one button, then didn't work. Maybe it's an alignment issue, I don't know. The bottom can be pushed down by hand, the top section pops on no problem, but put a button in and try to press it, nope. Spend a little extra money for one that actually works well.

Really Easy to Use and Fabulous
I do not assemble, period! That having been said, I purchased this button machine thinking I could find someone to put it together. When the machine arrived, I was so excited to use it that I assembled it myself. Super easy. Great easy to follow directions. Then the real fun began. I started making buttons right away and can't seem to stop. The buttons are adorable. Note that I did not use the enclosed cutter as I own a 1 1/4" circle press. Two days later: Important fact, Be sure that you only use one sheet of mylar as the button maker will not work with two. The sheets really stick together so carefully check out the mylar each time. I'm still making buttons madly and loving them.

Good machine for what I paid
TLDR- I gave it 3 stars because it was missing some supplies, the cutting tool is a throw away and right now the seller doesn't seem to sell supplies for THIS machine. Overall it's a pretty good machine but mine was missing the keychain parts. From what I can tell the seller doesn't sell them or other supplies for this machine. There are plenty of other sellers selling button supplies but you have to make sure they're compatible with THIS machine. I also noticed when looking at the reviews, there seems to be a different machine pictured in some of them, so I'm guessing at some point they changed it from a red metal one to the green one listed now. After making a few buttons I mostly figure out the machine and it's quirks. You're probably not going to have 100% success rate 100% of the time. I noticed the mylar would sometimes gets out of place when turning the base, it looked like static cling would pull the mylar up before it was time to press the button causing it to not crimp correctly (I'm guessing that's a mylar issues not necessarily a machine issue but if the machine was made of different materials it might not be an issue). The cutting tool also sucks! If you're just making a few buttons now and then it will get the general shape for you but it won't be perfect. You have to turn the cutting arm 360 degrees while holding the center down and ensuring it doesn't move at all. If you're making a lot of buttons at once, the cutter isn't going to cut it! You need to start with a circle that is 1.98 inches, 2 inches will be too big and you'll have to trim it down. Not sure how small you can go with a hole punch and have it still work, since you need to have extra material for it to crimp. I only paid $30 for it, so for that amount I'm happy enough with it.

Love it
I was hesitant reading some of the reviews but am really happy with my purchase. I have had no issues creating buttons with this and the instructions are straight forward. A metal button maker is a big investment that I didn't want to make, and this gets the job done. I have been using my Cricut to cut all of my paper images, so I have not used the little cutter that comes with the kit. I think this is a great way to get started until you can make the investment to get a more solid machine. It is plastic but does not require much force to operate.

This is a great company and an excellent button maker. I had one for a while and somehow i broke it. i contacted the company and sent them a video and they sent me a brand new one! Thank you Fasttobuy! in the video i said "4 stars" but that was my error--i meant 5 stars. this is an excellent machine and the customer service goes above and beyone. I am so grateful!

Excellent machine, fantastic customer service
I purchased this button maker about a year or so ago to make some buttons for giving away at conventions. It absolutely works fantastically and is excellent value. Honestly it came quickly and I'm super thrilled with it. Super easy to use, and has lasted very well. After about a year of using it the part that clamps down the button seemed to have come out of alignment and was loose. I'm a bit of a clumsy person and it had been dropped a couple of times too. The company responded immediately to my inquiry and sent me instructions on which connections to tighten. It took only a moment with an allen key applied tot he correct spot to solve my issue. I also had run out of the button supplies that came with it. I couldn't find the same button backs so searched out alternatives. I found a good deal on supplies with metal button backs that were on sale so bought them form another supplier. But when they came I was unhappy with them as the backs are thinner than the plastic ones I was using and the paper crinkled around the edges. The finished product with those did not look nice. I contacted this company again and asked, since it was their maker, if they have any tips for how to stop that wrinkle from happening. They responded quickly and suggested heavier paper (which I was already using). I said the only alternative I can find is just to go back to the plastic backs. But I can't find those backs like the ones that came with the machine in their store. The only other backs they had look exactly like the metal ones I just tried except in plastic. I was worried I would have the same issue. They then offered to send me a sample pack of the plastic ones for free so I can test them out. Well I have to say, after receiving them that they work fabulously. I'll be sticking with those backs and from this supplier too. They have been so communicative and so helpful they've earned some customer loyalty with me. So now I am still, over a year later, happily making buttons. For anyone curious, the paper I use that I am very pleased with is the Epson Presentation Paper Matte (8.5x11 Inches, 100 Sheets) (S041062) which I bought here on Amazon. It provides a nice clean crisp image. The organizer I use to store my button making supplies is the Creahaus 16.1 L(17 US Qt) Organizers and Storage Box with Removable Tray, Durable Plastic Containers with Lid and Latching Buckles, Stackable Art&Craft Box for Organizing Toy, Bead(Grey). The maker and paper and printed button pages fit well in the bottom and all the supplies fit in the top tray. Extra supplies can always go in the bottom with the maker if needed.
