Q: Can someone please explain the double hinge to me? I accidentally threw away the packaging and cannot figure out how to adjust the hinge.

There's no adjustment needed. Twist the screw all the way into the cork. Press your finger on the top portion of the hinge and it will depress just enough to catch the lip of the wine bottle. This should remove the cork half way when pulling up the handle. The second half of the cork is removed with the bottom hinge hooking the lip of the bottle as a second movement.

I gave that one to a friend and don't remember if the blade is serrated or not. However I also bought the 'True Fabrications Wood Professional Corkscrew' http://www.amazon.com/True-Fabrications-Wood-Professional-Corkscrew/dp/B00400OL92/ref=pd_bxgy_k_text_y it works great and does have a serrated blade.
