Norpro 583R Grip-EZ Bench Scraper/Chopper, Red

Ladies and Gentlemen, Let me tell you all a little about this excellent little kitchen gadget! First of all, with great products comes great praise! This "Nor pro 583 EZ Chopper" is such a versatile kitchen gadget ! I ordered it because I lost my old one, and even if I'd found it the old one, it wasn't as sharp as it used to be. The old chopper was a different brand, and wasn't made nearly as well as this one. I use this chopper for everything. My husband was a Sioux Chef for years in the lovely Swiss Hotel here in the ATL years ago, and the chopper is always in his hand when he cooks. It's features- It'stainless steel, with a built in measuring guide, has a non-slip "grippy" handle, dishwasher safe and is super easy to grip and use. Measures 6-inch by 4-inch /15cm by 10cm Dishwasher safe Product Dimensions 1.5 x 6 x 4 inches Item Weight 0.3 ounces So versatile, and inexpensive. so that I can easily chop my onions, garlic and veggies in a snap, as well as meats. Great for baking, dividing, cutting anything into perfect dimensions. Remember to wash thoroughly, and don't cross contaminate. I really do need two of new ones, rather than just one... I use this to chop and slice my cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, any vegetable you can think of. It has a black plastic grip handle that fits perfectly in just about anyone's palm or hand. It's invaluable for getting every last bit of vegetables, meats, cheeses or whatever you are slicing and chopping up on your cutting board. It neatly collects your food in one swoop, so you can scoop it up quickly, and pop it all right into your pan!. I've even used mine for scraping wax, or stuck on foods off the counters before (which can dull it over time, but you can sharpen it up, as you would a knife). If I find my old one, I'll use it for purposes of "counter scraping" from now on. In fact, it's SO SHARP, I cut my fingertip on it, and that's never good while cooking. SO, BE CAREFUL with this little guy, because it's as sharp as a freshly honed knife! Since it doesn't look like a knife, it can be discounted and care may not be taken in storage, as we do with our knives, and should never be left near small children, (which goes without saying). This would be a terrific gift for ANY chef, cook, mother father, friend, neighbor, newlywed couple, etc., I'm confident that anyone thinking of buying this will be delighted with the quality and performance of it, and it will be a permanent fixture in their kitchen for life. You can't go wrong! Of course, this is just my Lil' ol' opinion. 😊

This bench knife is extremely high quality and I highly recommend it. The hand grip is comfortable and secure, the blade is sturdy and does not bend at all, and the blade thickness permits easy chopping of vegetables and slicing of pizza, which are my primary use cases. I hardly ever grab an actual knife anymore and certainly never a traditional pizza cutter. There is no aspect of this product that looks, feels, or operates cheap. If you need a high quality bench scraper that is worth every penny of the purchase price, this one is it.

This tool feels good in your hand and makes gathering minced food on a cutting board a breeze. I don't like using the blade of my expensive Wusthof knives to scrape food around a cutting board after fine mincing garlic or other sticky vegetables. Plus using the blade to transfer food from the kitchen island to the stove means maneuvering around my wife with a super sharp knife. Add evening wine to this equation and using a knife this way its a non-starter. This blade end is a solid piece of metal which can easily chop thru many foods, plus has a wide surface to transfer from cutting board to pot or pan. The blade does have an edge, but you're not going to lose a finger tip using it or accidentally run someone thru with it. At worst you'd get cursing plus band-aid versus trip to ER for stitches. The handle end is comfortable and having the blade directly under your hand is very satisfying, but perhaps not as precise as a standard knife. Mine has survived the dishwasher just fine so far. Given the low price of this tool, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Update: I just bought a 2nd one of this same brand/model. First one is just over a year old. Markings have faded (see both in photo) but still working great! My old one has been thru the dishwasher ~100 times.

Love my new bench scraper. Has measurements on it for a plus feature. Cleans easily.

Works great and built well. Cuts dough well to, not knife sharp but great for a scraper. Dinged it 1 star because the side with measurements is not nearly as readable as the pictures show. They either changed the printing or played with the contrast in the pictures to make it stand out.

This scraper is solid -not flimsy metal. The handle fits your hand well. I also use it to loosen hardened materials on the counter before wiping them down after a messy baking activity with the grans.

Nice and comfort to hold!

It is incredibly sharp and cuts dough very well. I love the measurements on the bench scraper itself. I'm very cautious about the corners of the scraper since I don't want to scratch my counter. Good buy!
