Q: How long does it take to set up?

Not terribly long. But, once up, you don't want to take it down. It's permanent.

Q: How does the net stay up, are there just poles or are their stakes to put in the ground

There are stakes and I am very happy with the purchase. We have used it several times and you even get a bounce off the net if you make it tight.

Q: What is the diameter of the poles?

I dont know about the diameter and all but those are very strong and good. Also coming to the height of the net after fixing everything, it is almost 6feet 5inches.
