Murach's JavaScript and jQuery (3rd Edition)

A great treatment of JavaScript and am important companion library, jQuery
I only knew a bit about JavaScript and nothing about jQuery, and this book got me up to speed quickly. The layout is unique with a descriptive explanation on one side of each page, and tables or sample code on the other side of each page. The tone is conversational, not at all dry. While following along in this book, I was able utilize what I learned to create some pretty interesting (and functional!) web pages. For those new to JavaScript or jQuery, I recommend this book.

Concise and a handy reference
If you are smack-dab in the beginning of programming, this may not be for you. But if you want a succinct tutorial getting you started with JavaScript that you won't want to toss after you learn the basics, this is it. Usable for long-term reference.

Great for beginners! Bad for deep thinkers and people with lots of experience.
Writing from the perspective of experience, and giving the benefit of the doubt to the intent of the text, only buy this book if you are an absolute beginner. Read the right page first, then the left page. Trust me, it works out better that way. Now, if you truly are a beginner, go ahead and give this book a whack. You can learn more from other books, but it might take more time. If you start here, you can go far. However, do not expect any deep, thought provoking prose in this book. However, true to its charter, this "... book presents all of the JavaScript and jQuery skills that every web developer should have." It is not a comprehensive book like JavaScript: The Definitive Guide 6th Edition. This book is skills focused. If you want deep JavaScript knowledge, you will have to invest in another text. But, this book can get you going just fine. You will know something if you read this book. This is not the best JavaScript book on the market. However, it is a great introductory JavaScript book that explains prototypal inheritance, closures, immediately invoked function expressions, private state, and all crucial JavaScript fundamentals all JavaScript programmers should know. Start here, go far.

Excellent tool for learning JavaScript
I bought this book for a course, but after using it for 3 weeks I have decided that I won't need to take the course. This book has everything that I need to teach myself JavaScript, but only because I understand Object-Oriented Programming. Otherwise, a complete beginner to coding should take an OOP course before attempting this book on their own. The book allows you to download the beginning code for the exercises and the solutions, all arranged in organized folders.

A must have JavaScript book
I liked Murach books. This particular book is very easy to read and follow. It gives me examples and learned why the codes are setup the way they were presented. I have lots of questions about JavaScript and this book was able to address them.

It Arrived Damaged but Usable
I got the product I requested, but damaged. This is the first time I received something that was new that looks used. However, I'm happy I got the book I needed and on time.

JS Programming for Beginners
Great book for learning JS. A dummy like me is able to understand it. I'm a beginner, there are other books more suitable for people not starting AT THE GROUND FLOOR. But for those of us at the bottom, this is perfect.

Vale a pena.

Nice introduction to a lot of topics; missing html
This was a very nice book which covered a lot of topics. It does assume you familiar with html; assuming you know what many of the tags mean. On the other hand it assume you have zero knowledge of programming and gets to the very basics with that topic.Good book to get a quickish overview of the topics required for making a website dynamic (from a static website); however, not so useful as a reference guide after. However does give a list of website that are.I would higher recommend this book it you are use to developing static website and what to learn how to make them dynamics, as the book even covers basic ideas in programming.
