When I purchased this bag of Hawthorne candy wafers my expectation was that it would be tart because Hawthorne fruit is tart. What a surprise!The candy is a light pink 1 1/2" in diameter wafer, about 1mm thick. It comes in small packets of 5 wafers. The smell is sort of musty. Upon biting it the texture is sandy. The taste of Hawthorne is far, far away. This tastes a little like powdered sugar glaze with a very faint tartness. The tartness is akin to eating a Cosmic Crisp apple. Almost nonexistent, but there as a faint afterthought.Would I buy it again? No. The taste really doesn't do anything for me. And, frankly, I don't really care for consuming sugar for sugar's sake. Would I recommend it? Again, no. I was disappointed with the taste, so, no. I wouldn't recommend it unless you like to eat sugar wafers.

These haw flakes are of nice quality! The flakes are larger in size and much harder than THE brand which could be commonly found in the Asian stores. These aren't as sweet compared to the brand that I just mentioned which is perfect to my taste.The flakes are packed in small packages of 4 to 5 pieces each which is convenient but I have concerns about all the extra and the unnecessary plastic wastes. Hence a 4-star review.

I’m part Chinese and haw flakes were always my favorite candy. These have 100% of the taste with none of the artificial dye of the others and my nostalgic heart is content.

I have been ordering this item and lately packages have different amounts some are half flakes. The most disturbing is quite a few packs looked tampered, bitten and odd shapes. Why are these being sold this way?
