Writing a dissertation is a challenging affair. Having a method that is simple enough to grasp but not too simple to not meet its intention is a challenge. This book gives a clear and compelling instruction backed with actual research and researchers. Worth the time to read.

This was a required text for a class. I not only learned quite a bit from this book, but enjoyed reading it as well.

Had no choice had to buy it for school. Not a completely boring book so that is a win. Good Book if you are in need of a research methods textbook.

Excellent book. I was quite impressed. As I've started my thesis research and writing, I've also started to read all those tons of research books I've purchased over the years. This is one of the more recent books I've bought, but it ended up being the first book I read. I probably chose it to read first because it's rather thin! But don't let the size fool you, it had a ton of great advice and great examples. In my grad courses, my professors only every talked about a theoretical framework, not a conceptual one. I think it's probably because they simply didn't bother to name what Ravitch considers a conceptual framework, they may have looked at it as just simply your research plan. But it's so much more than a plan and the conceptual frameworks explained in this book are extremely helpful when it comes to visualizing your research and seeing the big picture. And while this book focuses on qualitative research, a quantitative researcher would also find value in the suggestions and examples provided. I would highly recommend this book to any graduate student who needs some help on where to start with their research and how to think about it in terms of how the pieces fit together to make the whole.

Well set out, clear advice which is explained and evidenced using reason and rigor. I highly recommend this book. It is an outstanding guide to help unlock the ideas about conceptual and theoretical frameworks, literature reviews, methodologies, data collection and analysis. To me it seems that most, possibly all, researchers would benefit from reading this book.

著者たちが説明するように、大学教員は指導学生に、研究には理論や概念枠組みが必要とよく口にするのですが、それらが一体何を意味しているのは曖昧にしたまま（というより本人たちもよくわかっていないのでは？）ということが非常に多いです。この本で、著者たちはそのもやもやの解消に真っ向から取り組む労作だと思います。学生のみならず、大学教員や研究指導を行っている高校の先生にも有用な1冊でしょう。

I bought this book as I’m doing a Doctorate in Business Admin. I wanted to know what is a conceptual framework as I’m quite confused with it. After reading this book I learnt that conceptual framework is a subset of the conceptual framework and the theoretical framework is not static but dynamic. It changes and evolves. It affects the entire research paper from methodology, data collection, analysis etc. However, I wish the examples could be made simpler and more straightforward. But I understand this book is written based on social science and not not business management. Overall good. Thank you.
