Only had to use once, but definitely did the trick
They recommend you use these as key chains and although it works incredibly well as a tactical weapon that way, I find with all my keys on the ring, It is just to large to fit in my pocket. Some people I have seen tuck the kubaton into their belt or wait band, but I also feel like it will fall out. Instead I have my keys in my front pocket and keep the kubaton without the key ring that comes with it fit snug next to my wallet in my back pocket.As for its actual use, I have trained brazilian jiu jitsu and muay thai for 4 and 3 years respectively and although neither actually implements the use of this self defense tool, the same clinching and holds can be achieved with the kubaton and made even more effective. The striking is also an incredible advantage. Its like having a roll of quarters in your fist while striking with strait punches. Then the hammer fist strike is made worlds more effective with the blunted tip striking first into bone, muscle, or soft flesh. Delivering just a few quick strikes with this hidden in your hand gives you enough of a surprise and advantage that you can either escape or subdue your attacker long enough to get help.Nifty little tool.

False Advertising!
Buyer Beware!I bought this because the ad and description stated that it's made of polymer and had a pocket clip. What I got instead was an aluminum kubaton with NO pocket clip. Looks similar to the picture but the middle portion of the one I received has tighter spirals not unlike a screw threading. It did have a keyring as pictured. If I'd have known it was aluminum, I would've bought the one that costs 1/3 of this. I emailed the vendor, so I'll leave an update on how they do to make this right.Update:Vendor refunded the purchase immediately - no questions asked. At least they owned up to their error and I hope they correct the description soon. It's nice to see that there are still vendors out there with good business ethics, so they are - still - worth doing business with.

Great defensive tool
I haven't had to use this, but knowing that I have it and know how to use it means I don't have to use more lethal or damaging option. It is built well and fits nicely in the hand. I bought this specific model because the tapered end can be used as an impact weapon; more focused energy on a pressure point or into large muscle groups. It can also be used as a traditional Kubaton to apply pressure to bones. If you buy one though, get some training; Krav Maga, Yawara Jutsu, or a personal defense instructor that knows how to use it.

I like it, but it's metal
I like it, but it's metal, not polymer. I'll have to stash it in my checked baggage when I travel, or TSA will take it away from me. Otherwise, it seems to be good quality and the right size for my hand. Disappointed that I won't be able to keep it with me when flying, though.UPDATE: The seller promptly issued a refund, though I did not ask for one. Much appreciated, thank you!

Not Polymer
This product is not polymer. Judging by the other reviews, this "mistake" in the description has been known for over 2 years and yet they continue to offer it under the false description.

it's alright
over all its a good product. however I'm going to be looking into getting one made of polymer for edc. the weight of aluminum plus keys attached is the deal breaker for me

it was metal not polymer
The Kubaton I bought met all of my specifications except that it was metal not polymer. It got here quickly and I decided to keep it because it met all of my other requirements
