Amazing, powerful stories of healing, and of a brave, intelligent and intuitive woman who has dedicated her life to helping her patients, while advancing her (and our) understanding and use of this once forgotten technology. She has even included technical aspects of the generation of the waveforms. In short, she has not held back in providing detailed levels of information.Several books have been written about the effects of electric currents in the bodies of humans and animals. This one tells the powerful stories of healing, often of healing the "incurable", with the skillful application of two simultaneous pulsed micro-current streams of amazingly low level, and carefully regulated pulse streams of two different and specifically targeted frequencies: one for the effect to be realized, one to target the specific type of tissue.The technology sounds completely incredible. How could this have been known for so long, and remained so completely buried? Carol asks these same questions, and provides backstory.The book also tells the powerful story of a woman (Carol) whose life has been dedicated to understanding and cataloging the effects of each frequency in each different (sometimes very complex) circumstance, and to teaching other caring medical practitioners how to effectively and safely apply these discoveries.My own understanding of the often amazing effects of multiple frequencies comes from my work to develop a unique form of neurofeedback (brainwave biofeedback) called Neuro-Gen HPN. I was motivated by a desire to help my daughter with epilepsy. Utilizing amazingly tiny pulses, containing mixed frequencies, and responding to the brain's own dominant EEG frequency in a kind of "dialog", practitioners in the US and around the world have experienced amazing improvements in the central nervous system symptoms of their clients. The MEG confirmed results have been documented in a small formal study of mTBI and PTSD in military personnel published in Brain Injury.Unlike the waveforms used in Frequency Specific Microcurrent, whose effects Carol McMakin so poignantly and dramatically describes, Neuro-Gen HPN uses unbelievably narrow pulses, designed to utilize the skin as the dielectric layer of a capacitor. The frequency component appears to form a kind of dialog with brain, helping it break up unhealthy, "stuck" EEG patterns, and to form the habit of more fully functioning behavior.It is particularly striking for me to notice some of the parallels in the development of these two different technologies and the commonalities in the issues involved.My copy of this book is weighted down with brass Book Darts, my favorite way of marking lines of specific interest for future referral. The value of knowing just one of these very specific frequencies and its effects, e.g. the one to reduce inflammation, is worth many times the price of the book. While reading the book will not substitute for the knowledge and experience of taking one of Carol's FSM courses, it is a very efficient and cost-effective way to start. Besides, I like her style of writing, and can relate to her story. Very highly recommended.

It was at a grade school play (grandkids!) where I ran into Carolyn McMakin and she told me her new book was out. I ordered a copy and put it on my nightly reading stack, not sure what to expect, as I'm neither technically nor medically inclined. Imagine my delight in finding out 'The Resonance Effect' was thoroughly engaging on several levels. It is a story written with a sure hand, without belaboring the writer's personal journey or bogging down in professional jargon, just saying what needs to be said, plainly, poignantly, and moving on to the next case, the next crisis, the next success, despair or triumph.Don't hesitate to pick up this book. You need not be in the medical field or a patient therein to be captivated; the narrative is gripping. It is definitely a must-read for any health care provider regardless of their specialty. And the people who seek them for treatment of pain or debility may well find it the key to their 'miracle healing'. (The miracle being that one woman persistently believed in an invisible science and is now making it work in the most natural and amazing way imaginable.) If you've ever dealt with pain, yours or someone else's, or if you consider that someday you may, you'll be glad to have the information provided in 'The Resonance Effect'.There's one thing that left me asking an indignant question. Why is this treatment not the first remedy tried for a host of maladies? It's mind-numbing to hear of the costly and too often ineffective, harmful or addictive curatives endured by many people looking for medical relief. I hope that the successes of Dr. McMakin's FSM become the norm in some soon future reality. Before resorting to medications, pills, or surgery, it will certainly be my first stop if I'm ever in such need.

I enjoyed this book for its clearly written insights, explanations and examples. Engaging, well-written with humility

I enjoyed every page of this inspiring book. It helps to explain what my physical therapist is doing with Frequency Specific Microcurrent.So far my neck and jaw have been healed, and I am on the road to healing for the lower back & knee.If every atom creates sound, or music, then it makes sense that our bodies can been healed by resonance.I thought Carolyn did an excellent job writing this book. I especially enjoyed the personal notes throughout the book about her life. It made the adventure more enjoyable, & interesting to read.

Makes me want to become a practitioner, almost.

This book reveals a fascinating journey of discovery. Well written and down to earth, it reveals the authors research, anecdotes and efforts to treat health condition with specific micro-current frequency protocols. In my practice as a Chiropractor I used micro-current for acute injuries and wound healing since 1993 but had no idea of the extent to which it could be applied for a wide range of ailments. After reading this book I went on to take the seminar and I feel that my passion and excitement for helping people overcome their conditions has returned to the level it was when I began treating patients back in 1977. I highly recommend this book to everyone and my hope is that it will inspire more intensive research in treating pain and illness with frequencies. We are just scratching the surface. Thank you Dr McMakin, for your research, persistence and promotion of this wonderful resource and thank you Dr. Walt Barr, another dedicated practitioner, for introducing me to it.
