Permatex 80632 Thread Sealant with PTFE, 4 oz., Cream

I absolutely love this stuff. I’ve used this Permatex PTFE thread sealant on two complete vehicle engine builds, and I’m only about halfway through the bottle, which says a lot about both coverage and value. A little goes a long way, and it applies smoothly without making a mess. I used it on cylinder head studs, intake fittings, transmission line fittings, oil cooler fittings, and several other threaded connections exposed to oil, coolant, and transmission fluid. In every case, it sealed exactly as intended—no seepage, no weeping, and no loosening after heat cycles. What I like most is that it seals while still allowing proper torque, unlike some sealants that either over-lubricate or harden too much. It’s held up against coolant, engine oil, and ATF with zero issues. Threads stayed clean, fittings went in smoothly, and nothing backed out during assembly or operation. This has become my go-to thread sealant for engine and drivetrain work. Reliable, efficient, and long-lasting—one bottle easily handles multiple builds. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it again on future projects.

Works great on bolts subjected to petroleum. Oil bolts, intake bolts, and any bolts that needs thread tape.

I brushed a thin layer onto the threads, tightened the fitting, and followed the label directions before turning the heat back on. The cream stayed where I put it instead of running down the pipe, which made the job less messy than I expected. I wiped away the extra with a rag and checked the joint the next morning. The paper towel I left underneath stayed dry. The 4 oz. tube is a useful size for keeping in my household repair bin. I don’t do plumbing every week, so I like having something on hand for a small threaded connection rather than needing to run out mid-fix. It also helped that I could apply it neatly in the cramped space behind my desk, where I didn’t have much room to work. Seeing that dry spot the next day made me glad I picked this up.

Came home after a rough shift and used this to seal a slow drip under my kitchen sink. It goes on thick and stays where I put it, which is nice when I’m already half asleep. I let it dry for about four hours, then turned the water back on and it held fine. No mess the next morning. One thing though, the “fast dry” on the package feels a bit optimistic. I tried running water after just an hour the first time and it started to seep. So now I plan ahead and give it more time.

I bought this after seeing it online when the threaded connection under our bathroom sink started dripping. I put a little cream on the threads before tightening it, and it was easy to work with, not runny or messy. The 4-ounce tube now lives with our household repair supplies. I was glad to have it ready during nap time.

The best thread sealant I have ever used. I've used it in every heavy diesel shop that I have worked in. When it fully dries its fully sealed. A little goes a long way and it lasts for quite awhile.

What can I say....Permatex is a leader in thread sealant. Works great and used on John Deere mower oil filter change over install. Always a little messy but you get confidence in the finished job.
