had 4 now, work well, quiet, move lots of water, but all have broken at about 2 years. good filtration, not a harsh climate here.

Pondmaster is the only brand I will buy going forward. Earlier this year, I purchased another brand because I got it at a discounted price, and it died within a few months. Even when it was working, it was really difficult to prime, and the water flow would stop every few days for no apparent reason. I was constantly fighting with it to keep it pumping. My prior pump was a Pondmaster, and it lasted for years before dying. I replaced the impeller on it twice before the magnets in the housing got worn too badly and it stopped working. This pump looks exactly like my old Pondmaster, except for being considerably larger (2400 gph vs 900 gph), and works very well. My waterfall looks much better with the increased water flow. I replaced the short pre-filter with a TetraPond SF1 Submersible Flat Box Filter to prevent my fish from getting pulled into the pump. This pump primes itself much better than any pump I have owned as well. I had to lift the filter while cleaning the pond and accidentally introduced air into the line, and it had no problems priming itself and quickly restoring water flow. I would recommend it without hesitation.

Nice and Powerful pump. I changed the Prefilter that came with it to a square sponge prefilter to prevent the goldfish from being sucked to the inlet. Works like a charm. I made a homemade filter with a 5 gallon bucket and a lid. I drilled holes in the lid with a doorknob drill bit and made a hole big enough for the outlet tube to go in.(hose should be long enough to go to the bottom of the bucket) I stuffed the bucket with fiberfill pillow stuffing from walmart and used plastic window screen under the lid to keep the fiberfill in. You can put whatever you want inside, lava rock etc. Fast Economic filter that keeps the water crystal clear. I occasionally spray the screen if any algae starts to plug the openings with a hard stream of water and that keeps the openings clear without having to shut off the filter. The bucket can be placed at the waterfall feature. Very easy to make and very economical! Love the Pump!

We have been using the Danner Mfg Pondmaster Pond-Mag pumps in our koi pond for over 23 years. ALL of them lasted at least 3-1/2 to 5 years. This latest one was an upgrade from the 1800 GPH to the 2400 GPH after 3-1/2 years. The 1800 was starting to not flow very well and after doing numerous troubleshooting attempts, along with replacing the impeller and so forth, it just did not get any better. SO we bought this Danner Manufacturing, Inc., Pondmaster Pond-Mag, 2400 GPH Magnetic Drive Water Pump thinking not only would we increase the waterfall volume but that it would last as long as our previous Danner pumps. WRONG on both. We purchased this NEW 2400 GPH pump in Sept of 2023 and by September of 2024 the water flow degraded GREATLY! I did not buy the extended warranty because it seemed as if they lasted quite well. We also ordered a new impeller and replaced it, however it made NO difference at all. From the get-go the Pondmaster Pond-Mag, 2400 GPH had no more flow volume than our previous 1800 GPH model. Our pond pump is now down to a TRICKLE, quite literally. Luckily its almost winter so won't have need to be running it for awhile. But so disgusted after paying $163 for this and then a NEW impeller, which was not cheap, ONLY to have it last ONE YEAR. This is highway robbery because of course if you want, you can send it back to Danner, only to have it cost you shipping BOTH ways and then add in the cost of repair which pretty much EQUALS the cost of a NEW pump combined. As senior citizens on a limited budget we don't have an endless supply of funds. THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED. :( I feel like they are being made cheaper and cheaper with NO quality control anymore. To add, we've always used the Danner large pre-filter with this and change those out 3 to 4 times a year. Even doing that it made NO difference either.

Love these pumps! They last a long time, and are energy efficient. They don't clog easily and are forgiving of plant material; strong enough to just grind up much of it and spit it out without damaging parts. (yes I know one shouldn't have that situation, however with storms, trees, rummaging Koy, and caretakers who refuse to touch pond water when I'm gone, debris happens)...And this pump will keep on sucking, doing its best to maintain water flow! I will say though, don't bother trying to replace the impeller if that starts wearing; they are expensive, hard to get out (hefty magnet!!) and mine broke instanly upon installation. I think they may be making a slightly less sturdy impeller; my first Pondmaster lasted nearly seven years with continuous use/abuse. I also use this unit to drain my pond quickly when I need to do a water change (I rigged a harness around it with zip ties and rope). I use the harness in the winter to suspend the pump from a log - so I can retrieve it easier if ice forms; wish it had a handle molded into it). One "feature" I've wondered about is the female threaded inlet, and the manufacturer says "inline use" so I tried to attach a short hose to it to reach into the deepest part of the pond, but it absolutely would not suck water? Overall, still an excellent, American made pump! Oh, and if you have a question or problem - there is a REAL PERSON, and NICE, who will answer the phone!! (sorry manufacturer if this increases calls, but I glow with joy at this rare service)!!!
