First time sprouter. Can't complain about this product.
I have never sprouted in the past, and a friend turned me on to the idea since alfalfa sprouts keep getting recalled from the grocery stores. It's amazing how easy it is to grow your own sprouts with a large mason jar, some cheese cloth, and these seeds. The seeds took like a charm and I now have about 6 cups of fresh (very tasty) sprouts. I will continue using this product for many years to come. This 1 pound jar will last me quite a few years (average shelf live is 4 years I read somewhere) and creating about 6 cups of sprouts out of 2 tablespoons of seeds... yeah I'm set for a long long time. Well worth the cost. They also have a GREAT website that explains everything you need to know. Happy sprouting!

Finally seeds that grow
These are the best sprout seeds I've found in years. Lately there are so many duds that don't sprout it has been discouraging. But these nearly all sprout, very very little waste. I use a glass jar and either a screen or cheesecloth and they work great! I highly recommend them.

Definitely buy from The Sprout House
I have placed several orders for sprouting seeds/beans from The Sprout House. They are of excellent quality and come in nice plastic jars resembling large spice jars for parsley and such. The seeds sprout uniformly and well, with negligible "junk", and are very tasty. In comparison, I had a very bad experience in buying seeds from another seller/producer that came in a cheap plastic bag that spilled all over the box and arrived in a black plastic trash bag from the post office. The quality/uniformity of those other seeds was nowhere near these from The Sprout House. If I am buying alfalfa sprouting seeds, I will ONLY buy these. Please see my customer images as well. I hope you found my review helpful.

A Revision
For some reason I am not getting a very high germination rate with these seeds. It seems that about 25% do not sprout. I soak them for 8 hours at first then rinse them every morning and evening. Maybe I got a bad batch or maybe they are old seeds but I will order from someone else next time.I would like to update this review. I believe the problem I had with these seeds had to do with the weather. I live in a humid area of Brazil. When I first started using these seeds it was summer here and I had a poor germination rate. Now the weather has cooled and I am getting a very good germination rate. Although I rinsed these twice a day and the weather was very humid, it could be that they dried out too much. I would not be afraid to purchase these again and I am sorry if I caused anyone not to purchase these with my previous review. If I can I will change my rating to 5 stars. I always try to be honest and if I make a mistake I try to correct it. I count a lot on the reviews of others when I make a purchase so I want mine to be correct. Enjoy.

Dramatic Price Increase
As a vegetarian I enjoy having fresh alfalfa sprouts growing in mykitchen. I have made several purchases of these particular seeds fromthe Sprout House and can highly recommend them. I use glass jars andplastic lids with openings that I purchased in the 1980s specificallyfor growing sprouts. These seeds grow well and taste great.I last purchased a pound of Sprout House Organic Alfalfa SproutingSeeds in late September 2011 for $9.50. That price included FreeShipping with an Amazon order over $25.00. Now in January 2012the price for the exact same seeds is $14.50 with the same freeshipping terms.I read here and there that the US economy is finally on the reboundso perhaps that accounts for the nearly 53% price increase in fourmonths. Or possibly I was fortunate to get a bargain price in 2010and 2011 with my Sprout House purchases and the regular pricehas usually been at the higher $14.50 level. This is a good food product. One star is subtracted due to the almost53% increase in price I encountered when I recently considered placinga new order. That substantial increase caused me to postpone mypurchase. (For anyone who may be curious, I still have severalpounds of seeds in my refrigerator).** Update on December 31, 2014 **Since I posted this review nearly three years ago I've not lookedat my profile to view the feedback, if any, the review garnered. WhenI did I was dismayed to see that 2 out of 5 people deemed my reviewunhelpful.I rarely post reviews. But when I do it is my sole intention to be truthful, and hopefully helpful to others. I'm not able to now discern why some peoplewere unable to find my review helpful. My belief is that it has to do withmy remarks concerning a 53% increase in the price in a relatively brieftime period.I've been buying on Amazon since the 1990s. I spend thousands of dollarseach year on this site. From my experience over many years I've noticedthat prices on Amazon fluctuate more than the prices of stocks listed onthe NYSE. I've literally witnessed a used dvd increase in price from the1.00 I paid for it to over $12 within a month in the same grade. It was atitle that is old and not popular but which saw a 1200% increase in ashort time span. This is by no means an isolated occurrence. It seemsthat if one person buys an item or perhaps even clicks on it enoughtimes the price will increase. I've seen incredible price jumps in manyproducts here within a very short time period.A bit of my post involved sarcasm. Perhaps that was not recognized. Myreview was favorable for the product but I was making a statement abouthow the prices here are not stable. I don't mean a price increase after yearsbut a dramatic increase after days or weeks. This particular product wasreviewed noting an increase within four months but that price swing isindicative of many items I've witnessed here with sharp increases.I'm sorry if the people who read my review did not find it helpful. I trulythought I was providing a service by expressing my opinion of the productand its price. I was trying to help people perhaps save some money. Andmoney is important to a lot of people, but I know not to everyone.

Beautiful, delicious sprouts
I've recently started sprouting seeds from home, and these are easily the best alfalfa seeds I've tried. No dead seeds so far, and the sprouts themselves are crisp and delicious. I put them on everything! My favorite so far is my veganini (a Vegan panini):Vegan Ciabatta BreadHummusKale or SpinachThese SproutsBalsamic VinaigretteCut the ciabatta bread into two halves. Put a good spread of hummus on one side. Layer up a large helping of sprouts, some kale or spinach, and a small splash of vinaigrette. Use a light layer of olive oil on the outside of both buns. Grill in a ciabatta press until the kale or spinach is lightly wilted, or until the bread is just below crisp. Serve and enjoy! You'll be blown away by how much flavor these little alfalfa sprouts add!
