Good sound for a very reasonable price
Good power and musicality. Good features adjustable sound boost control. Also a pure sound mode which bypasses the bass/treble settings. This comes in handy for late night listening as it lowers bass levels which travels further in the house. Purchased from a supplier that ships directly from Osaka Japan. Manual is mostly in Japanese, the top line description of all the function in English but the details are all in Japanese. Also warranty is all Japanese and is for 1 year. I only know this as my wife is also from Osaka! 😏 Not very clear how the warranty would be serviced in the US. I was more tan $100 cheaper with tax savings.

so much for a decent price
I am an audio fanatic, audiophile, and bought many expensive pre amp and amps before , but i was awed by this little amp. It is so clean and close to other amp/preamp costing 10 times more. I am truly in awe. Then i discovered it came from Japan. What a big change from Yamaha. Never use Japanese amps before because for the last 40 years i never found a good one. I do not use an extra pre amp or amp, just direct and it sounds so good even with my cheap speakers, based on my ears.

I've Got The Power
Additionally I had a pair of clippers 800s I had wanted a 3-way system as I hear more detail and clarity with a 3-way system with the Yamaha integrated amplifiers Superior circuitry and the prime Pinnacle SVS speakers they gave me the three-dimensional soundstage I was looking for it is well made very low noise good output and high wattage this I would recommend to people who are looking to have a step up above commercial or standard receivers or integrated amplifiers.

Yamaha A-S801
Excellent integrated amplifier. The integrated DAC is the best it has and with the NS-777 speakers the sound is simply spectacular ...

Yamaha A-S801 plus Technics SL-1210GR plus DENON DL-103R plus NAD PP2E EQUALS WOW
It has been a LONGGG time since I have enjoyed the precious black vinyl. I did the bazillion tedious steps in setting up my brand new Technics SL-1210GR and brand new Denon DL-103R cartridge - plugged turntable into NAD preamp - from there ran 35' 18AWG RCAs to my new Yamaha A-S801 - connected ground ONLY from turntable to NAD - prayed - and then there it was.....WOWEEE...emanating from my vintage 1985 Phase Technology PC-65 fronts was sheer and utter bliss. Very First Album Played: brand new gift from son: Sufjan Stevens Come on feel the Illionoise (awesome album btw) all components were working as engineered and the end result was crystal clear beautiful analog sound. I LOVE NAD. NAD and I were introduced in 1985 and I have loved NAD equipment from then on - extreme engineering and so elegant and pure first class - and I can say also for Yamaha and the Technics - the NUMBER ONE priority of all of these makers is QUALITY of SOUND. The Yamaha is VERY QUIET - the Denon cartridge sounds so FREAKING GOOD - crystal - I AM NOT a turntable / cartridge FREAK like you read so much from Billy Bob and Freddy - yes, setting up a brand new turntable takes time and meticulous attention to detail..BUT it's not rocket science - I am EXTREMELY pleased with the NAD preamp - very quiet and all natural sound reproduction/amplification - RECOMMEND NAD HIGHLY, AS HIGH AS THE STARS ALLOW. LOVE NAD. Now if they would only upgrade the T787 to the T987 and do 13.2 with Atmos - the world awaits.. ;o)
