I did not have high hopes for this product upon purchase but felt it was a better bargain than the soldering iron at the local hardware store and more useful than the non temp controlled 20W P.O.S. currently in my toolbox. Used the iron for the first time tonight and was absolutely blown away at the usefulness of the entire kit! Before I knew it, I felt like a kid with a new toy and had 3 items pulled out of my different vehicles, torn apart, soldering in AUX cable hacks and touching up broken connections on chip resistors. All the things I wouldn't do with my old iron for fear of overheating a board or shorting an IC. I feel I actually have the right tools for the job and it has absolutely restored my confidence in this skill. I absolutely recommend this kit to anyone, I feel it would also make a great gift for the little tinkerer in the house. Time will tell on the quality, it's obviously not a Weller but even if I threw it away in a year and bought a Weller, I would still have all the handy tools.

Got this kit to try and resolder a micro usb port back into a circuit board, as well as potentially needing to solder pin headers onto circuit boards as well (Arduino shields). Kit came with everything I needed to get the job done, with some caveats. Would be nice if it came with batteries for the magnifying light, would be nice if it came with some form of helping hands or other tools to help with micro soldering. Lastly, there is no indication that the iron has fully warmed up. If there is, I never realized, and didn't see anything in the documentation. Other than that, like I said, it got the job done. I was able to successfully solder the micro usb port back on the board. This kit is also better array of tools than one I got in the past, as well as the iron itself seems to be of better quality.

While being a great value for your money, there were no instructions on the use of the various tips, desoldering tool, or temp control. It does seem to work fine for what I need to do in my workshed, such as small electronic repairs, and broken connections. The temp range is alright, although it takes getting used to dialing it in, it likes to be either hot, or hotter, with no middle ground. The desoldering tape seems to work fine, but having never used the desoldering tube/gun I don't exactly understand how to use it. The tips that are included are of a good selection, but here again I find that I don't know what some of the different shapes are used for. All-in-all the soldering kit is a great value for small around the house repairs, or for someone doing light hobby work. I haven't used it enough to see how it will do in the long run, so I may have a different comment later. I gave it 4 stars for now because it does exactly what I bought it for, light work, and for the cost value of the items included. My only gripe is that it comes with no instruction manual for the various tools included. While not exactly a beginner, I'm also not an expert on soldering, so I would recommend a different soldering set that would explain the different items involved. Again though, it is a great value for what I need.

Digital temp gage is worth having. I recommend it.

Bought this because I didn't have a very good soldering Iron the only thing I had that was good was a soldering gun but was to big for a lot of the hobby things that I do. I love the fact it comes with a lot of accessories I have pretty much used everything in the kit as its convenient. I also love the fact that it has an on off switch and a temp controller. To give you an Idea of what I used it for first was I used the soldering Iron to Recap a Sega Game Gear. This worked very well for me. Only thing was the the soldering iron stand I think could have been a bit more sturdy as far as when I was putting it together it was very tuff to get into the mount. I would totally recommend this to any beginner or hobbyist.

For 10 bucks this small solder iron is good for misc projects. not good for details electronic boards.

I really wish just once... Just once would the people who dream up these "kits" would be someone who might have an idea on using the items in the kit. I thought the case would be great. The idea is there. It just has little elastic bands to hold your everything. My issue is the case I guess. We'll... you get what you pay for. Want a cheap iron here ya go! If you want quality look more for a Weller in a case.. I'm broke I went cheap... It will last... a little while.. Oh one more thing. This tiny roll of I dont know what could be left out really.

I've only soldered very little in my life. Built a drone recently and this kit made me look like a master. Comes with a lot of stuff for the price! I would've paid $10 just for the little wire cutters included. Dad was amazed when I told him I got the whole kit for under $30. Is it the nicest soldering gun ever? No, but it works perfectly well especially for a hobbyist. The solder it came with worked well for me too.
