(This review is for use with the Garmin Drivesmart 65 LMT. Other units may perform differently .) Item did trick. I like the fact that it is USB cable instead of charger, so I can plug into USB port instead of charger port. It is recognized as charger and not computer USB, which allows it to charge better and to operate seamlessly without the popup stating that it is entering USB mode unless canceled. My unit has a built in traffic receiver, so I only needed the FM transmitter, which this cable contains and seems to work well for. I have only had it for 2 weeks, so I cannot attest to longevity. It does appear to be well made. Even with traffic enabled, Garmin cannot quite compete with Waze or Google Maps for real time alerts and accurate traffic data and ETA approximation accuracy. However, it is certainly better than nothing.

Cars no longer come with 12V outlets in convenient locations, our new Camry only has one and it's buried in the center console. USB is the current standard, either regular or C type and so powering up a Garmin made to run on the 12V plug takes a special cable. Maintaining the traffic function takes an even more special cable. This cable does the job admirably with on caveat - your GPS model must have the traffic receiver built into the unit and not into the plug. They all require an antenna function from the power cord but for those with built in traffic, that is all they need and this device provides it. Both my Drive 50LMT and 60LMT maintain their traffic function with this plug. If, however, your unit actually has the traffic receiver in the plug (my old Nuvi was built that way) then this cord will NOT provide a traffic function. It will still power up your unit but that's all that it will do and given the functionality of smart phones, power to the unit may be all you need or care about. I'm always looking for ways to keep my GPS functional since I can take it in the house and use Garmin Basecamp to plan 30 day road trips in advance, something I cannot do on Google or the built in GPS in the car. This cord helps me keep going, probably until the GPS units themselves die.

In the tangle of cords in my car’s little nook, One hero stands ready — no manual, no book. A six‑foot lifeline, sturdy and neat, Keeping my Garmin alive on every back‑road retreat. Mini‑USB with a mission so clear: “Don’t let your GPS fade, I’ve got you, my dear.” Through Drive, DriveSmart, and DriveAssist too, It powers the journey and points the way through. So here’s to the charger that never complains, Through deserts, through mountains, through long highway lanes. A simple companion, but loyal and true — EDOTech’s cord, I’m grateful for you.
