I received a hand carved wood walking stick from a friend which had no protection on the bottom. I measured the diameter of the stick and I placed one of these rubber cane tips on the bottom and they fit perfectly. This makes my walking stick non-slip and prevents the bottom from wearing down. I did put a little sticky "monkey putty" in side the rubber so it stays extra secure.
