Albolene Facial Cleanser and Makeup Remover

Removal for eye make up. Now the price has gone through the roof so struggling. Perfect for sensative skin.

I was curious if Albolene could improve upon an already excellent product. I’ve been using  Albolene Unscented Moisturizing Cleanser, 12 oz, 2 Pack  for over thirty years to remove makeup. During that span, I’ve tried other brands, but Albolene’s no-nonsense ingredients and moisturizing abilities always brought me back. I have been using just one 12 oz. jar for over ten years, and it is still half-full and even has the old metal top instead of a newer plastic lid. If used only for make-up removal, it lasts forever.This new formula uses even less product per application, and that’s a good thing considering its tube size is only 0.85 fluid ounce. The hard part is finding the perfect pump squirt—the first few times I had enough oily liquid left over on my fingertips to clean off a few more eyelids, but now I make a conscientious effort to keep squirts to the bare minimum. As Albolene points out in accompanying literature, a little bit goes a long way, and they aren’t kidding. The downside to squirting out too much is it’s impossible to replace any excess back into its container (which can easily be done with the original formula).I think this makeup remover does indeed do a better job than the original moisturizing cleanser, but the difference is so negligible that it’s almost to the point of splitting hairs. Both products consist of mineral oil, petrolatum, and beta carotene and both are paraben, fragrance and preservative free. The original formula has the consistency of petroleum jelly, but the addition of jojoba seed oil and ozokerite gives this new formula a more liquid, slippery feel. Both effectively take off makeup, and in my case, specifically waterproof mascara.That said, this is still an excellent eye makeup remover, and if that is your only product purpose, this formula might be the ideal selection for you. It is conveniently sized and capped for travel use too. Personally, I find the original formula works just as well, lasts far longer, has more uses, and costs much less in the long run. The big jar size can be cumbersome, so I have resorted to putting a much smaller quantity into one of those little pill vials that has a screw-on lid. Just that small amount cleans off makeup for many, many months.Both products deserve five stars. The photo shows size comparison, and the convenience of repackaging the original moisturizing cleanser into a pill vial that can be purchased at any dollar store.

After years of using an expensive make-up line’s eye remover my eye lids were becoming dry and irritated. My dermatologist recommended Albolene and it has worked amazingly! My eye lids are no longer dry! Plus it is more affordable than the previous brand I had used!

This does not work for me! I use only one coat of L'Oreal Lash Paradise (NOT waterproof) and Albolene will not remove it adequately. I bought this solely on the reviews of others, but I have used this product for 10 days and these are my complaints:--Mascara smears, but is not dissolved. It takes off a little, then I feel beads of mascara still on my lashes. I have to literally "pick" the mascara off my lashes. It takes a very long to time to remove all traces of the mascara, and even when I think I'm done, and wash my face, I look up to see raccoon eyes.--The formula seems gritty and dry (due to the mineral oil), making the cotton ball pull harshly on my lashes and the skin around my eyes. Most other removers seem to create a smooth surface.--It contains mineral oil and petrolatum, and no matter how careful I am, it gets into my eyes and makes my vision blurry.

This product makes removing eye makeup effortless. It is absolutely amazing, and has sold me on Albolene as a company overall. Since the pandemic, I have only really been wearing eye makeup, and I feel so guilty whenever I use a full makeup remover wipe. This product gives me the best results by the least effort. I am absolutely floored by its efficacy. I had been using the regular Albolene formula, which is a little heavy when used around the eyes, but this product is so lightweight and just melts the eye makeup away. Everything I want and need in an eye makeup remover. It is also perfect for super sensitive skin like mine, as it has a very short list of ingredients.

I love this product but I am only seeing one available for purchase at a crazy price. Has it been discontinued? I hope not because I have horrible allergies and I am not allergic to this product!

This is like a gel, which I found weird at first, but after I used it, I found I liked it. It may not be for everyone though. I apply it with my fingers (which I wash first) and my eye make up comes off so easily. I found that it was harder to remove with pads. I always have to scrub the mascara to get it off, but with this, it glides off so easily. It is somewhat greasy, but I feel like it helps moisturize the eye area. I do not use it on my whole face, just eyes. It has no scent, not even the nasty "scented - not scented".

Due to a recent fragrance allergy diagnosis, I tried this product since it was on my safe list. I’m astounded at how well this removes eye makeup without irritation, redness or itching. I’ve tried many brands of eye makeup removers. Most cause burning and foggy vision. This was effortless. Pump a drop or two on your finger, massage it over your eyes and remove with a cotton ball or tissue. I had no traces of any eye makeup!! I’m chunking all my other eye makeup removers. I’m a definite convert. I wish I’d found this decades ago!
