Just like it 'sounds'- perfect!
Small, high-quality sound and light machine with lots of options for background noise- too many almost, but the sounds are precisely how they describe/title them! I am a very light sleeper so having this white noise in the background is super helpful for me to more deeply sleep. The options are all terrific, even rain on a window pane and other refinements of normal rain sound and brook (like in a cave vs small or bigger brook etc). Also you can vary the volume of any sound and the light options are just icing on the sound cake!

Small but cute
This sound machine was exactly what I was looking for! It’s small enough for travel yet puts out nice sound and soft lighting. I love the options in lights and sounds, I can customize it just for me. I wish it could be battery powered but fear that keeping it on all night would waste batteries quickly. It’s easy to use and looks nice on my nightstand.

Great for an apartment
The sound machine is great. I really love the different sounds and how it’s able to drown out the sounds from the other apartments to allow me to sleep through the night. Easy design and easy to use. You’re able to adjust the light to the different colors or off entirely. Great value for the device.

It rained all night! Dry the next morning. Slept like a baby...
Once you cycle through the available sounds, you can pick one and let it go through the night (infinity mode). I haven't tried the timed settings, but they're pretty self explanatory. Volume is fully adjustable from near 0 up to loud enough to keep you up at night. A lovely variety of sounds will greet your ears with the ability to adjust the volume to fit your needs without placing the "fan" across the room or right next to the bed. The night light is another boon or bane depending on your need for light in the dark. For me, sleep requires darkness, so i turn off the night light. However, there is an annoying little light that emanates from the infinity timer setting that will illuminate a spot on the ceiling about a foot in diameter, lighting up a perfectly dark room. I put a penny on it and it blocks the light - only cost me a penny to modify. Overall, a really nice unit i can throw in a suitcase for travel or use at home. I like it! Highly recommend you play with all the buttons to get familiar with them. They do not light up very well at night, so i have to remember where they are if i use this in the dark with the nightlight function off. This is not a detractor, since i want it dark at night. The sounds are a little tinny since the speaker is small. But for most of the sounds that i use, the speaker setting on the nightstand is more than sufficient! Sometimes you can put small speaker appliances in a box to shape and direct the sound for a more satisfying result. Also, setting this unit on its side with the bottom speaker pointing in your direction seems to help clarify the sound; that way, the timer lamp will shine away from you.Babies and puppies might appreciate some of the music - I do not, but it's there if i ever get a puppy, right? There are more than enough sounds to satisfy a needy sleeper. If you sleep with a fan for noise, this will do the trick. If you need a crackling fire sound to replace the one in your electric fireplace, then this might do you, too. Do you need a babbling brook to inspire you to make water, hey, no judgement. From me to you, though, I recommend it.

Short 8-second loop and odd acoustic artifacts.
Ok, my review is going to be a bit different.I found the volume and the sound options are fine. No complaints there (though I've only had it for around a week).I've long suffered from insomnia as by brain simply never wants to shut off. I find I can eventually get to sleep with melatonin and diphenhydramine (Benadryl), though the slightest noise will wake me. This is where white noise helps. Here's my issue with this unit. Many of the rain sounds are nice, but my brain tries to find patterns in everything even, while I'm trying to sleep. I've determined the sounds (rain and white noise) are roughly on an 8-second loop. This means the pattern of rain drops sounds become evident after a short time for those unfortunate to have an over-active mind like mine. One of the better rain settings towards the end of the loop, I can faintly hear what sounds like a crow cawing twice. Once I discovered that, my brain always looks for it, defying the purpose of the unit.On one of the white noise settings, I can faintly hear both what sounds like extremely faint music as well as faint talking, though it's certainly not English (an Asian language for certain). It's near the last 4 seconds of the loop. So there goes another setting. It appears as if these sounds are not synthesized/manufactured but rather captured (recorded from a source of white noise and actual rain). Most people probably wouldn't even pick these sounds up as I have the unit about 3' from my head. Even if they did, they likely wouldn't be bothered as much by them as I am. However, for me, the short loop cycle makes the patterns readily recognizable.Fortunately, there are several settings, so I'm sure I'll find one that doesn't have acoustic artifacts. There's a fan-sound setting that I'll try next. Unlike some of the other reviews, I don't find the sound tinny, cheap or too weak. It has plenty of features for the price, so I want to like it.
