Simple text and full-color photographs depict children engaged in various activities that make up the scientific process: asking questions, noticing details, drawing what they see, taking notes, measuring, performing experiments, and more. Review: Great for introducing scientific techniques - I actually saw this book when I was at our Buffalo Museum of Science. The office of the children's director had it and I thought it would be perfect for use with my first graders. It takes one topic at a time that scientists do (observation, experimentation, etc.) and defines it and then has a picture of young students doing it. I really want to use it when introducing each topic to my class. Then I hope to take pictures of my students and make a class book similar to it to show them being scientists. I loved the simplicity of it and the clear explanations of each thing a good scientist does. Very worth it and something I will use every year before beginning science with my little ones. Review: Pictures of kids as scientists - Good short book to begin science at the start of school. Lots of pictures and little text. Perfect for second grade or younger to jumpstart how students are scientists too.

Shows kids that they are scientists
This is a great introduction to the type of thinking that scientists do. It helps my students see that they too are scientists, because they can do everything that scientists do. The photos are clear and charming, showcasing a diverse array of students engaging in a number of scientific practices. This book was a great way to launch our science curriculum.

Are use this to introduce the concepts of science for my Pre K class. While it is a little dry it helped introduce the topic!

Simple, but extremely effective--Great for ages 3-6
Half of my class of preschoolers says that they want to be scientists after reading Ada Twist Scientist. I wanted a non-fiction book with photographs showing the many types of science and clearly explaining and giving examples of what a scientist actually does. This book does that and beyond. It is simple, uses photographs, and my students really loved attempting some of the experiments they saw in the book.

Sceintist Topic with Primary 2.
This was a lovely book to illustrate what a scientist's work could be. I was doing a science topic with P2 children which involved lots of scientist titles that ended with -ologist. This book helped them to visualize the activities that a scientist could be involved in.

Fun Intro to Science Book for Little Ones
What is a Scientist? Is a favourite intro resources for science units with learners in K-1. This sweet book explores who scientists are and what they do. It is a great way to spark conversation about the important role that scientists play and how each of us can assume the role of scientist. I enjoy using this book at the beginning of the school year before diving into content-specific science units.
