The MindBody Code: How to Change the Beliefs that Limit Your Health, Longevity, and Success Review: Love this book - Great book. Teaches you how to improve your life. Review: This is a good book with a lot of useful information - This is a good book with a lot of useful information. There wasn't a lot of new concepts that hasn't been told by other teachers. Except the Portal of Wellness and how he connected to the Chakra System. I have been meditating and using the Portal system. It works and one of the best systems I have seen that deals with the issues of shame, guilt and abandonment. For this alone I recommend that you purchase this book.

This Book is Deep Learning and Wide Compassion
If you are ready and open this book can change your life. For me the concept of 'cultural editors' was profoundly affecting. I have worked on myself and have been helped by therapists and the life philosophies of great teachers. Dr. Martinez has made a spiritual and learned intervention in the way I see myself, my family and what healing means. I'm still just beginning to apply the wisdom within this book. It's been a revelation.

An interesting read.
"The Mind Body Code" is an interesting read. Dr. Martinez has a habit of wondering from the point he is making which can make it hard to follow at times and I don't always buy his interpretations. But he makes some very interesting points. Also I tried all the exercises and they did nothing and Dr. Martinez doesn't address the possibility that they will not work. I recommend reading, "When the Body Says No", by Gabor Mate, MD first, if you are looking for some relief. "The Mind Body Code" complements "When the Body Says No".

And now, I understand
This book, written by a doctor, finally weaves the complexity of the mind/body/emotions together showing how to heal deep wounds and how to support your body/mind in achieving maximum health. I loved the section on centenarians (people over 100). His hypothesis is we are born genetically predisposed to health (proven by the easy with which your body heals a cut... as an example), but our choices based on our cultural norms causes illness (think obesity, substance abuse, diabetes). I realize that some illness is created by the body (defects), but most is created by choices (food, sleep, stress, exercise). I strongly recommend this book for anyone who would like to read an owner's manual for the mind/body that is written from an integrated POV rather than a list of problems to fix.

Like but not love!
This is a very interesting book. A complicated philosophy with a plethora of terms that Mario Martinez has created. I can't say that this was a life changing book for me, or that I had a big light bulb moment. His voice is very listenable and soothing on the audible version. I also can't say that I would recommend this book for most people. You have to really be into mind-science. I found myself at some points, just wishing he'd get to the point. For instance, he claims that he'll teach people if they are shame - abandonment - or betrayal based. It never really happens. I didn't find any true changes by going through his 20 minute exercises. There just wasn't much for me to hang onto once I finished reading.

It will take many readings and work with the exercises to have greatest impact
I was predisposed to accept that health is a combination of physical and mental conditioning; however, what I learned is that memory of past adverse experience is an impediment to current health/freedom and happiness. Dr. Martinez presents compelling evidence for his point of view. Dr. Martinez expands on the concept of health by looking at habits of people who live to be 100 or more. I am on my 2nd reading and will likely need many more iterations. The exercises are challenging for me as I have a difficult time quieting my mind. I have a long way to go to address my past adverse experiences; and I am not fully convinced that it is possible to completely heal old wounds. I intend to continue to work on the exercises in the book the promised benefit is worth the time and effort.

I especially enjoyed all the references to medical anthropology and his story ...
I thought this book was fabulous. I especially enjoyed all the references to medical anthropology and his story about how shame during menopause between Japanese and Peruvian women was such a clear example of how our culture get under our skin, and into our body and changes how our body functions at a biological level. Some helpful meditations as well.

I've been using this in conjunction with some coaching. The ideas and processing protocols have helped me to heal some trauma wounds and look at situations differently. This really is an ongoing process as we will probably always have some new bits of wounds, or issues, showing up after the major ones have ceased to be a hindrance to our health and happiness.

I read a lot of books and only now and then I'm really impressed by what I read! This book is phenomenal and has provided me with plenty of fascinating information that generates fun conversations, but it has also helped me a lot in my work as an osteopath and meditation guide. I can help patients on a much deeper level by approaching emotional wounds with their appropriate healing field. I also listen to the audiobook version - Mario Martinez is a wonderful storyteller!

I loved every page of this book, so deep, profound and insightful. It explains with great care how to look at different aspects of life, and how to transform each situation through the lenses of love and self-understanding. The payoff is a healthy and long life.

I knew it. It makes total sense. We create our world with our intentions and expectations. Consciously or unconsciously. Our body and the way it ages is no exception: read this book. I am so grateful I stumbled on it.
