A great guide.
I bought this book, twice now, and it is the best one I have have seen. The projects are well written, explained, and photographed. All color photos, a few could have used another picture or two, but still very good. The choice of projects is wide and varied and many can be done in a weekend. If you have a child that likes science, there a a few projects in the book with excellent teaching potential. If you are a handy person with a home, the house projects are invaluable. As with all books of this type, technology marches on faster than new printings and updates could ever dream of, but the names of the components rarely changes so some internet quick searches can turn up workable replacements or upgrades for the components that may have changed in availability. My one criticism is that there could have been some extra variations for some of the controller aspect of some of the projects, there is sometimes an analog method of control that works as good as digital at a far smaller price. This is still the best book on this stuff by far.

DIY Solar Projects (UsEd) is the best solar intro book I've seen
I've checked out several beginner solar books and purchased two books. The "DIY Solar Projects - Updated Edition" is by far the best of all solar books. It is both easy to understand and much more detailed than any of the other books. Highly Recommended

great book; my son-in-law saw it laying on my table and started paging thought it. he said wow it's that easy and put it down but as we were talking I noticed he kept looking at it so when they left I ordered him one and had it sent to his house. he call me and thanked me once he received it. that was a first. lol

5 out of 5 staplers
It is a good book for learning how to make all kinds of stuff! It has a broad idea of what can be used as solar power. I totally recommend this book. Preview it at Lowes.

Good kids project book; very little on panels, batteries, charge regulators....
Nice book, but I was looking for something more technical about hooking up solar panels, batteries, etc... This book is much more basic, and only touches on solar panels. Better for kids project ideas.
