Pharma Grade DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide) is a very distinctive dipolar highly aprotic organic solvent with a freezing point of 64 Deg F. DMSO by itself is actually odorless, what makes Dimethyl Sulfoxide smell and taste like onions or garlic is DMS (Dimethyl Sulfide). Industrial grades of DMSO will contain DMS and therefore give off an offensive odor. Pure Pharma Grade Dimethyl Sulfoxide is distilled and purified to remove DMS and any other contaminants leaving it odorless. Dimethyl Sulfoxide, once considered a medical curiosity and now used in many regulated drug delivery and healthcare applications. The Toxicological aspects of DMSO have been studied extensively over a long period of time and it has been concluded to be a very low toxicity hazard in humans and animals via oral and parenteral routes. One of the highest concerns surrounding DMSO is that it can take everything through the skin. While DMSO by itself can penetrate fairly easily through the skin and does enhance the adsorption rates of some chemical compounds, it does not have a universal ability to take just anything through the barrier properties of human skin. Despite the past history, Dimethyl Sulfoxide is proven to be a safe versatile material. It should also be understood that when water is present as a cosolvent in DMSO the penetration kinetics are much lower.

burning dermatological inflammation - and this on the part of someone who has been using many excellent DMSO products for many years
My experience of this poorly identified product was a highly unpleasant, burning dermatological inflammation - and this on the part of someone who has been using many excellent DMSO products for many years, even at full 99.95 intenstiy - due to the inclusion of what are listed as 'carbomers' - which, according to Natural Cosmetic News' List of 15 Toxic Chemicals to Avoid in Personal Care Products are ". . .Synthetic polymers, such as sodium polyacrylate and carbomer, come from petroleum and give viscosity to skincare products. They are highly processed and their manufacture creates toxic by-products. . ."True, DMSO can impart a warmth, or, if used in concentrated form a passing redness, but never before in my 2 decades of use has a DMSO product been so fiery and even painful.Below is their complete article on the subject.Meanwhile, sleuthing out the manufacturer's name and telephone number online and asking him the original source substance for the 'carbomers', I received an elusive, rambling runaround in which it appeared he was attempting to 'slay the messenger,' commenting, 'You don't need to know what it is, because it doesn't really matter, due to the fact that it's no longer what it was by the end of the process,' - and finally attempting to dissuade me by adding, 'You wouldn't understand it even if I told you what it was anyway. . ." claiming to be 'tired of people like you. . bothering me all the time.'One got the impression there was little care for the experience or well-being - never mind simple respect for - the customer, I'm sorry to report. The US personal care and cosmeti toxic chemicalsThe US personal care and cosmetic industries greatly lack oversight and regulation. In today’s climate it is necessary to arm yourself with the essential knowledge to be your own product police. Unfortunately, this is what it has come down to. Companies put their bottom line before the well-being of their consumers’, and load their products with toxic chemicals. The average adult uses nine personal care products a day, with roughly 120 chemicals spread among them, many of which are incompletely tested for toxicity. That is why Natural Cosmetic News wants to provide you with a list of 15 toxic chemicals to avoid in personal care products. And be aware, just because a company claims to be natural does not mean there really are. Read the ingredients list, and use a discerning eye.Natural Solutions magazine, in collaboration with Whole Foods Market, has created the following list of toxic ingredients that you don’t want in your personal care and cosmetic products.1. Synthetic fragrances often contain phthalates (pronounced THAY-lates), synthetic chemicals commonly used to stabilize fragrances and make plastic more pliable. These endocrine disrupters mimic hormones and may alter genital development. Avoid products that list fragrance as an ingredient unless the label states that it’s derived from essentials oils,or look for a phthalate-free label on the packaging.2. Parabens, ubiquitous in skincare, preserve other ingredients and extend a product’s shelf life–but these antimicrobial chemicals also have hormone-disrupting effects.3. Ureas, formally known as diazolidinyl urea, imidazolidinyl urea, or DMDM hydantoin and sodium hydroxymethyl-glycinate, are preservatives that have the potential to release formaldehyde in very small amounts and are a primary cause of contact dermatitis.4. 1,4-dioxane, a chemical carcinogen, is created when ingredients are processed with petroleum-derived ethylene oxide. Common ethoxylated compounds include sodium laureth sulfate and polyethylene glycol (often listed as PEG). To avoid it, skip any product with the following ingredients: myreth, oleth, laureth, ceteareth (or any other -eth), PEG, polyethylene, polyethylene glycol, polyoxyethylene, or oxynol.5. Petrochemicals are derived from crude oil. Petroleum-based ingredients such as petrolatum, mineral oil, and paraffin (derived from nonrenewable sources) form a barrier when applied to the skin that does not allow it to breathe and can clog pores.6. MEA/DEA/TEA are “amines” (ammonia compounds) and can form harmful nitrosamines when they come in contact with nitrates. Used as foaming agents, synthetic stabilizers, and to adjust the pH of cosmetics, they can cause allergic reactions, eye irritation, and dryness of the hair and skin.7. Sulfates, such as sodium lauryl and sodium laureth, are harsh detergents that give cleansers, soaps, and shampoos their latherability. Often derived from petroleum, sulfates can also come from coconut and other vegetable oils that can be contaminated with pesticides. Sulfates can cause eye irritation and skin rashes.8. Chemical sunscreens, such as oxybenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate, have been shown to disrupt endocrine activity. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are safer alternatives.9. Quats, such as benzalkonium chloride, steardimonium chloride, cetrimonium bromide, and cetrimonium chloride, give a positive charge to conditioners in order to prevent static. They are necessary for conditioners, but we have allowed only the mildest quats in our Beauty With a Conscience standard: guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, hydroxypropyltrimonium oligosaccharide, and SugaQuats.10. Antibacterial compounds, such as triclosan and chlorphenesin, do not break down in the environment and may contribute to bacterial resistance.11. Synthetic polymers, such as sodium polyacrylate and carbomer, come from petroleum and give viscosity to skincare products. They are highly processed and their manufacturecreates toxic by-products.12. Synthetic colors are made from coal tar. They contain heavy metal salts that may deposit toxins onto the skin, causing skin sensitivity and irritation. Animal studies have shown almost all of them to be carcinogenic. They will be labeled as FD&C or D&C, followed by a color and a number.13. Chelators, such as disodium EDTA and tetrasodium EDTA, are used in personal care products to remove impurities from low-quality raw materials. They do not readily biode-grade in the environment.14. Nanos are a new technology with inconclusive but potentially hazardous study results. Research suggests that when tiny nano particles penetrate the skin, they may causecell damage.15. Animal testing: A grim history of cruelty to animals lies behind many cosmetic ingredients. But scientists are developing new technologies to test cosmetics before a European Union ban on animal testing begins in March 2009.Be Sociable, Share!

Gel is strong and a little smelly. Can burn skin
It’s very effective as antifungal, or to help treat deep under-skin infections. Smell is stronger than expected. It can burn the skin the first 1-2 times you treat an affected area. Then it becomes painless. Dries out skin severely so after you wash it off make sure to use a water hydrating moisturizer and then a moisture sealer.

Dmso is a natural product with many health related uses ...
Dmso is a natural product with many health related uses. Having used various forms of dmso for the past 15 years, this has become the most economical and practical form: gel. If you are not familiar with it, get the smaller size. I fully trust the pharmaceutical grade enough to use daily for various conditions that might make people go yikes! No adverse effects when used appropriately. In some instances, it should be applied on moist skin or diluted. This is one of many natural products everyone should know about and USE!

DMSO WORKS!!!!
Yes this worked on healing my toe nail fungus when nothing else would work. Also cleared athletes foot on the toes and top of my feet. The alternative for toe nail fungus is to take a prescription drug that can hurt your liver. DMSO Gel is safer.

The Best DMSO Topical To Be Had!
This DMSO gel really does NOT have that lousy DMSO smell but does really work and also burns just like good DMSO should... If I apply pure, raw, whole leaf aloe vera gel 1st and then this DMSO gel, it does NOT burn hardly at all! My horse has no reaction when I apply like this and neither do I!

Full strength joint pain relief, but too painful for the skin.
We tried this, but it stings the skin too much to tolerate, for us. We found much better results from the mixture of DMSO and Aloe gel, which diminishes the skin discomfort. If you mixed this full-strength stuff with something else, maybe pure Aloe gel, it would probably be more comfortable.
