Amazing for French learners who want to solidify their skills.
I somewhat agree it’s not the best for complete beginners; however, if you have a good understanding of English grammar it’s helpful. You can use this to help you build your skills and work up to writing sentences. I think it might be easier to get something that teaches you step by step with if this is your first time learning a foreign language. It depends on the person.I got this because I’ve been studying French for 10 years and doing private lessons, and I just needed a complete book of French grammar, given all the random rules and complex verb tenses. This is amazing!!!!! There’s more topics than I could’ve imagined! I’m so glad I got this. I also got it with some French books and a dictionary, so with all of these combined I think it’ll help my skills tenfold on top of what I already have.

Good Practice
I've been taking French since my sophmore year in Highschool and I hate it but I need it for my major. I'm in a 2010 level in college now and I'm past the point of being able to bullshit my way through it. I needed help remembering what grammar rules apply when. I've only gone through the first section but so far I really like it. I needed extra practice that duolingo and cheat sheets couldn't provide. This book, with some highlighters and sticky notes, should help me solidfy what I need to know. Not a book for beginners but good for someone like me who has some shakey foundations of knowledge.

Absolutely amazing self-learning book for upper beginner to lower intermediate level
I've been self-learning French on and off for about a year or two and currently at the upper beginner to lower intermediate level. I wanted to find a book that explains French grammar systematically, and this book is definitely exceeding my expectations! Everything is clearly explained with a lot of examples, exercises and very useful vocabulary. I especially like the larger size fonts so my eyes are not too tired after long time reading. Would definitely recommend to French learners at similar level who want to improve their grammar.

Good reference for a quick "What is this ?"
I'm in my first year of French and I wanted to try reading Harry Potter in french once in a while for practice. Problem is some of the grammar moves beyond the scope of my class. I picked up this book because it covered the past historic, and it was just what I needed. It gives a pretty quick explanation about how this or that piece of grammar is used, and gives some conjugation charts and examples. I've also used it to clarify points that I was confused by in our school textbook. It does also have practice problems with answers you can jump to via hyperlink, so if you're looking for a primary source to learn from this might be sufficient for you. Since I don't use it in that way, I can't really attest to that personally. The reason I drop it to four stars and not five is more an annoying choice for the kindle version. Often they'll put sections of text as images, and I have to click on the image to enlarge it so I can read it. Since it's an image I also can't copy/paste it to my notes, and since to read it I need it that makes referencing anything else on my computer with it a pain. It was probably done to preserve the format of grammar charts in the kindle resizing thing.Ultimately though, these are annoyances I can live with and I do recommend this text.

So far so good!
I am still on chapter 1 but I already love it. It is a no-nonsense grammar book and if you are starting completely new with French, this may not immediately be helpful as some level of knowledge is required for you to get the best results out of this book. But I feel you should still buy it. This has many great exercises and vocabulary sections. I wish I had found this before!

I love the exercises to practice.
This book is intended for people with already a.good level of french. I love the fact that it has a lot of exercises to practice. I love these series of books . It gives you examples but again you have to have a good level already to be able to understand. It is perfect for review what you already learned in grammar and to practice .

Great for advanced beginner or intermediate French review
We are homeschooling and needed a workbook to supplement and review for online classes. This is very good for advanced beginners or intermediate students. My son is about at the level where he can read *Le Petit Prince* very slowly with a dictionary. This workbook is a good level for him to review, and has also introduced some new vocabulary, but is not super challenging for him.

Clear and concise
It's a very good workbook. A helpful addition to your other books. In my opinion, having a few different books is much better than depending on one book for everything. I bought four different books for less than $40. Check out my other reviews. You still have to study... but having good materials is invaluable.
