Will a cat make this brighter when walking by?

It would depend on the height of the unit. If it’s plugged into a typical outlet that is about 18 inches from floor then it will probably make it brighter. One of my units is at the top of my stairs and brightens when I’m half way up the stairs and my head is above the second level floor
