This is my second CHI hair straightener. My first one lasted nearly 10 years! Naturally, I got the same one again. While these are more expensive than others on the market, you get what you pay for. I expect this one to last another 10 years. One great feature about CHI is the straightening 'plates' are coated with some sort of rubbery material that makes straightening feel smooth as opposed to other brands that feel like your hair is being ripped, pulled, or burned. This new model has a lot of new features as well - the temperature can be set to more granular levels and the device remembers your last setting. It also beeps (not a harsh, annoying beep) when it is fully heated. There is also a digital readout which is a nice feature. There are other features on this device that I have not used, but I can be certain they are well thought-out features. My one grievance is that the cord is extremely long. Others may like this, but I personally think it gets in the way.

Fantastic flat iron. Heats up so fast, auto shut off, comes with a heat protector package. Multiple heat level choices for thick or fine hair. Highly recommend this flat iron. However, packaging was terrible at Amazon. Packing not even sealed. Delivered open and beat up :(

Makes hair look very smooth and shiny. Doesn't pull on hair. Heats up very quickly and has a digital display.

Decent straightener. Nothing can replace my daughter's UK brand flat iron, Corioliss, which lasted over 15 years. She got that one at a kiosk in the mall. I decided to replace it with this CHI. It looks cool. It doesn't rip at your hairs. It comes in a really nice box. While it doesn't do exactly what the ceramic Corioliss does, it still makes a difference if you want your hair straight. I miss the silky smoothness of the other iron. It's a good replacement. If I could buy the other again I'd drop the CHI iron in a heartbeat.

Will be returning this one. Had the original for years, the coating is coming off the plate edges. Thought this would be an upgrade. It works fine, but it takes me 2 or 3 times as long to do my hair. Less heat/safer/more efficient...whatever you want to call it. I'm spoiled by the speed of the original.Functions just fine, my patience is just ruined, ha ha. Will be returning for a new original. Just my 2 cents.
