This game is fun to play and definitely takes some strategy. It takes a lot of time to play. If you are new to the base game keep in mind that if it says an hour and a half play time, being new adds 4 hours plus.

Everyone I've played this with loves it. The deep narrative element and ease of use of the app make it stand out. All the pieces and counters may look intimidating, but once you understand the basics the app makes everything intuitive and smooth. A sense of real danger persists throughout each scenario, and each scenario is unique. You can die. You can go insane. You can fail. Making choices and living with them in a cooperative tabletop game is a new level of fun. This and the other expansions add elements to all scenarios while each providing a few complete experiences to keep you playing. This is an excellent expansion to an already amazing game.

Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition was one of last year's great games, (bearing little resemblance to the 1st Edition in terms of play, setup, etc...). This new expansion brings more to your tabletop- which is a double edged sword considering how much real estate this game already takes up! Beyond the Threshold brings two new investigators to the mix- Wilson Richards and Akachi Onyele. Compete with their own backstories and unique states, they also come with their own figures. The expansion also comes with a new monster- the Thrall (four of them, in fact). A crazy mini that looks fairly human until you consider the gigantic, oversize arm reaching out from it! The expansion also offers new mansion tiles, cards, and Key tokens, used to protect some items from being dropped or lost.What really is the draw here, however, is the new scenarios that are available with this expansion. Beyond the Threshold offers two new stories, Gates of Silverwood Manner and Vengeful Impulses, each offering a heart racing mystery against the forces of evil. There are a few new rules and ideas that these scenarios bring to the game, and I don't want to give anything away. I will say this though (since Fantasy Flight Games has already discussed it in the game's promotion), there are moving tiles in the mansion now! The new scenarios are available to download for free on the app store.This is a great new expansion that brings some fun new elements to the game. I am a big fan of MoM, and I have been looking forward to an expansion as soon as I played the base game's stories. One minor criticism about the game. After I've played it a few times the setup of the minis on the stands has become a little tedious. Now, I just through out the chit and call it good. Though the minis are beautiful, it just takes too much time get them out there sometimes, especially because you don't know what's coming. Still, this is a minor complaint in what is otherwise a first rate game. This expansion adds to the overall experience, and will drive you mad with delight!The Discriminating Gamer

When we are between tabletop missions or titles we pull this out and have a great time. Love the fact that you can play the mission more than once and the board shape will be changed, helps when you fail a mission so your not just rinsing to get it right.

Great expansion. I didn't know it would add content to the other missions too. Great experience. Well worth the money if you enjoy the game.
