Excellent results, great value for money
One or my favourite lens. Great autofocus (A7IV and A7R7), sharpness, focal length build quality and weight. Perfect for traveling, street photography, events, even at f/2.8, but it can be used as a very sharp studio lens when using flash and aperture around f/5.6, in its most optimal f-stop, or landscape at f/8 or f/11 (a bit of diffraction around 11 but still very usable). I normally find Tamron products of good quality, and this one exceeds that being probably the best lens ever made by that company.

My Favourite Lens...
I use this lens on my Sony A7iii and I absolutely love it. Hardly ever comes off of my camera body. Considering it is 1/3rd the price of the Sony G Master, sharpness and quality wise it is amazing for the price you pay.The autofocus is very accurate and fast. As well as it being almost silent which would be great for people who want to use it for video. The lens is very compact and lightweight, compared to Sony and Sigma versions, which makes it perfect to use for traveling when you don't want to bring a camera bag full of gear around, and it has a great focal range for most of my uses.

Superb lens … from a Sony GM stalwart
I had an in built reluctance against this lens because all my other Sony lenses are GMs, but my research looked too good to ignore this lens and it seemed a lot lighter and to have better MTF charts overall than a “professional” equivalent and at a fraction of the price. I bought this in Feb 22, took it on holiday recently and the results were superb and indeed it was really very close to my magical 135 GM lens in terms of sharpness at a pixel level, which is saying something. Obviously not quite the degree of bokeh, compression etc as the 135 GM though but that is in my view the best portrait lens for Sony. The Tamron was completely silent for video as well and excelled at both photos, including portraits, as well as video. A real mainstay in my camera bag now and if I could only take one of my lenses on a day out then it would almost always be this, the results are so good. Finally, I really like the short throw of the zoom from 28-75, very compact.

Beautiful Lens - Massive improvement over Kit Lens on A7 iii
Great lens, sharp as a tack, fast AF, what more can I say! I would like if it was priced more in-line with the previous gen but can't quibble when comparable lenses are 50-100% more.

This is my second lens
Autofocus works like a charm. The lens feel quite heavy but still considerably lighter than the Sony version. It is well build and is my everyday lens now.

Was the world’s best selling lens for a reason.
I bought it and didn’t use it much initially. Perhaps because it isn’t great with Sony Ibis when walking and pointing ut forwards , I have a ZVE1 with dynamic active stabilisation and it jitters around a bit. The DA stabilisation just works better with native Sony lenses. However I wanted to take less kit on holiday as I was taking my ZVE1 and 5 lenses and it weighed a ton, so I thought I’d just take this as my most practical option. And you know what, leaving aside the stabilisation issues, and I shouldn’t really be walking about with a lens pointing forward anyway, the results are never that good even with Sony and I have a Pocket 3 that does that shot perfectly, this lens is a cracker. It is so useful. I took it out in Portugal at night, capturing the ‘Popular Marches’ and its low light and colour rendition is really nice, it goes well with the ‘FL’ creative Sony look. I used it in the days, on trips landscapes, portraits. I used it for plenty of video. The zoom was so useful, particularly when you can boost it to 105 with clear image zoom. Yes the ZVE1 takes great photos also. It’s just a lovely lens and so versatile, next holiday in a few weeks I’m going on a cruise I’m taking this and my Pocket 3 only again. It’s made me realise, minimalism has many perks. One of the best lenses for the Sony, I would have preferred a 20-65 say focal length but that would likely have been bigger (clear image zoom means I can extend this by 50% so would have preferred a bit wider).
