I am using this to recap boards in an old ham radio. It speeds up the process and makes it easier. I should have done this years ago.

It does the job, but it is very fiddly to get a good enough grip of the PCB for it not to come flying out while you’re working. You have to apply just enough tension in the springs, but it’s hard to do that accurately with just a thumb screw locking each base to the spine. I’d love to see a revamped version of this with a lead screw the entire length of the base, and a thumb screw on the end directly controlling tension. Could have quick release clasps to allow for quick adjustment to different PCB sizes. Alas that’s NOT how the product currently works 😔. But it is still useful.

I have one of these at home and build small ckt boards for personal use. It works great! ! ! So I decided to pick up another for use at work. For smaller ckt boards, it works as it is supposed to. HOWEVER, larger board (greater than 6"), it has a tendency to wobble or even fall over while trying to solder a component into place. A colleague made a weight to place over the the center bar to give it a bit more stability. IF you build small circuit boards, this is a great addition to your work bench.

I’ve been building and working on pcb’s for years. I mean MANY years. Why on earth didn’t I think about getting this product sooner? It’s made working on board sooooo much easier. I’m shocked and thrilled about it!! Should have done this a long time ago.

The lock screws don't hold and the pcb can slide out while working on it. I put a strip of friction tape on the side to give it an extra 1000th inch of width and it worked. I then put some friction tape in the slots that hold the pcb to prevent the sliding issue. Other than that, it works.

Used for working a handful of boards. Slightly tricky to get width right when mounting board. But holds in place well. Rotating function is nice, and holds firm enough unless you apply a lot of pressure on upper or lower edges of board. Weighty and includes non-slip feet, so it doesn't get pushed around when working. No instructions for assembly, but was easy enough to work out first time. Definitely worth having to level up to board work instead of helping hands
