BLUEPRINTS FOR FUN THIS SUMMER OR WINTER
Easy step by step instructions on how to build different things out of wood. This is a great text book for any youngster no matter how old they think they are! Great ideas that are simple and way within the learning capacity of any youngster as well as any old timer like me! Great little tool for happiness and sense of accomplishment!

Good book, outdated illustration
Good Starter Carpentry Book for KidsThis book is a great introduction to basic woodworking for children. The projects are simple and easy to follow, even for beginners with no prior experience. The only downside is that some of the illustrations feel a little outdated and could be clearer for kids trying to follow along on their own. Still a very useful and fun resource.★★★★☆ (4/5)

Good Little Book
I bought this for my son to go with a set of "grown up" hand tools he received as a Christmas gift. The book is well written with just enough illustrations...not cluttered with too much information. It's like the author is standing next to you, talking you through the entire project. Every project seems to be laid out in logical order.A caution I'd mention is that the reading level suggested with the book is Ages 4-8...which is accurate...but reading level and carpentry skill are not the same. My son is 6, and this is fun with LOTS of adult supervision. I think he will enjoy this book more when he is in the 8-10 age range. One other caution I would mention is that this book was written in 1959. Some of the projects - like the shoeshine kit - are a bit dated. So, all in all, I would recommend the book, but for an older age-range and don't expect anything high-tech here.

not what you're looking for
Not what I expected. It's very much out of date. I think many of the plans and designs could be adapted, but there really isn't much call for a shoeshine box these days, among other items. I thought this would be great for my grandsons, but there really isn't anything in here they'll want to build.I can't imagine why they even reprinted something this dated.

Building memories
This was an add gift from my children to their dad. Great projects and love the nostalgia or an older print edition. They can't wait to start working on projects together and building memories.

Good project book to teach kids about creating things from wood.
This book will provide a lot of fun with adult supervision. It can be used along with Real Construction tools and 'wood' since those come with pictures of projects but no plans for size, etc. Older children will be able to make these projects pretty much on their own, again, with adult supervision. Well worth the price.

Find out how much your granchildren like the 1950's!
This book is just terrible. Two kinds of bird feeders, 2 kinds of boats, and a shoeshine kit! It became quickly obvious this is from the 50's, and the projects are just strange. You make a table lamp but there's no picture of the finished lamp, and from what you can see, it would be a very unattractive lamp. Etc. I wouldn't recommend any of these projects to my grandchildren. For the cart you have to buy--an apple crate! There's no design sensibility at all, and any reasonable child would end up hating the coping saw, by the time he or she had dealt with the gratuitous curves replacing thoughtful design. I don't feel like it's worth the 3.95 I spent on it. Kids need to be excited by the end product to enjoy learning carpentry skills. These are not rewarding projects.
