Watercolors

This is a nice introductory watercolor set--What's great: the color is pretty vibrant for such an inexpensive set and I like that the paints don't appear to have "semi-moist" additives that keep them sticky if you/your students load the paint on. The brush isn't bad either--not great, but better than many I've seen in sets like this--I was able to get a point on it and miraculously the handle is made of wood, so a little less plastic. I bought 18 & they came perfectly packaged with no broken or loose pans as some people have complained about. Concerns: I can't tell how long these will last. Doesn't look like there's a lot in the pans? I'll have to see. I wish they weren't in plastic boxes but I was looking for affordable and quantity and these definitely fit the bill at about $1.50 each. Overall highly recommend.

My K-8 French immersion school has made a commitment to arts integration. As part of our program, teachers plan and conduct units that incorporate arts into the standard disciplinary curriculum. My middle school English students naturally have opportunities to examine readings from a perspective in the performing arts. The have always used visual arts passively, comparing poems to paintings, for instance, or drawing lessons in cultural aesthetics from scaffolded studies of scultpture and architecture. This year, they are adding an active dimension to their arts integration: Using many media, including these watercolor sets, they respond "in kind" to works of visual art, and they express their responses to written work through authentic works of visual art. Naturally, the public school budget cannot accommodate such luxuries. The watercolor sets I bought from Color Swell offer a useful variety of good-quality paints, with a durable brush, at a reasonable price. I am grateful for the practical option Color Swell offers.

I purchased these Color Swell watercolors for my daughter's birthday party because they are affordable and come with a paintbrushes. My daughter loved the watercolors - they were easy to use for a 5 year old. I purchased them again for an adult art project and they were perfect for the activity. These watercolors produce very vibrant and beautiful colors and are such a great value.

I purchased these paints for our school's Art Smart program. Each grade focuses on a different artist and parent volunteers make the presentations and direct hands-on art activities. I was teaching about the American watercolorist Winslow Homer in 3rd grade this year and wanted the final activity to be a watercolor seascape. I was able to provide every child in the class with a set of these watercolor paints because of the exceptional price. The paints worked very well and the brushes are of decent quality. The paints go on fairly light when applied with water, so I encouraged the kids to use a drier brush (or mix with black) if they wanted darker colors. I also brought my own larger brushes. The only down side to the sets is that white is not included, so I provided some white acrylic paint for those who needed it. The paint palette has enough paint to last through several small projects. I would definitely use these again.

I use these to teach a watercolor class for adults, teens, and children. Surprisingly vibrant colors for the price, not chalky at all as some of the inexpensive watercolor sets are.

Got these years ago, as I was inspired by my sister who was using watercolours with her little ones as it’s less mess. Recently took a pack to the beach as an activity and they loved it. Really compact and portable, with good colour payoff
