I decided to change my mouse from Bluetooth to USB for better stability. Be prepared. :)
Once this little Bolt USB receiver is actually paired, it works flawlessly. I switched my MX Master from Bluetooth to the Bolt dongle, and the difference was immediate—way smoother, way more stable, and none of the random lag spikes I’d been quietly tolerating. Five stars for performance. Now… the pairing process. This part felt like Logitech accidentally sent me on a time-travel mission back to 1997. I’ve dealt with IRQ conflicts and jumper pins that made more sense than what happened here. When you switch your MX mouse from Bluetooth to Bolt (Easy-Switch Slot 2 → Slot 1 in my case), Windows pops up a tiny “Click to Pair” window. Cute idea, except the moment you put the mouse in pairing mode… the Bluetooth connection drops. And since you haven’t paired with Bolt yet, you now have no mouse to click the button that pairs the mouse. Beautiful little Catch-22. If you have a wired mouse lying around, that’s by far the easiest route. Just plug it in, click the pairing prompt, and you’re done. But if you don’t… welcome to the workaround. Pro tip before you begin: Before switching your MX mouse into Bolt pairing mode, place your cursor as close to the bottom-right corner of the screen as possible. The pairing popup appears there, and once Bluetooth disconnects you’ll be using Windows’ numeric keypad “mouse,” which moves at the speed of a tranquilized turtle. Here’s how I escaped the loop: Press Left Alt + Left Shift + Num Lock → this turns on Windows Mouse Keys. Your numeric keypad now becomes your temporary mouse. 2/4/6/8 to move 5 to click Use the numpad to crawl your way to that tiny pairing prompt and hit 5. Once paired, turn Mouse Keys off the same way. After that? Smooth sailing. The receiver works exactly as advertised and completely fixes the Bluetooth quirks. Bottom line: The device is excellent. Logitech just designed a pairing method that assumes your mouse is already paired… while you’re trying to pair it. Once you get past that paradox, everything works perfectly. If you’re switching from Bluetooth to the Bolt dongle, don’t give up—just use the secret Windows mouse hack (or a wired mouse if you have one) and you’re golden.

The Bolt works perfectly on MacOS… IF you know what the heck to do.
TL;DR: Use Logi Options+. Ignore macOS’s fever dreams. Delete Bluetooth afterwards. Expanded version (a public service): Plug Bolt into your Mac. A macOS connection popup will appear - click Allow. (see photos) macOS will panic, toss you a popup window, and ask you to identify your ‘keyboard.’ It is lying. Close that window. Open Logi Options+ → Add Device → choose Bolt. Flip the mouse, press the channel button until it blinks rapidly. Complete the on-screen “click these buttons” test. Click the corresponding mouse button when it shows as gray, it will then verify by turning purple. Wait until the next gray one shows up. Just right click or left click until the last one and then it's both right and left at the same time. Mouse verified. Delete all old Bluetooth pairings so your mouse can stop trying to date two radios at once. Enjoy flawless, smooth, jitter-free mouse control forever. Notes: Logitech ships zero instructions. macOS ships maximum chaos. Bolt itself is perfect. Just needs a translator.

Good to Have a Spare Handy
If you misplaced or need a spare Bolt receiver, then this is for you. I can't count the number of times I have left the receiver in a workstation I was using and only remembered it when I tried using my mouse. Even if you are not as forgetful as I, it is good to have a spare handy. It syncs quickly and works with all the Logitech Bolt devices.

Needed to make MX Anywhere 3S mouse work on my laptop
Logitech Support told me that I needed to buy this in order to make the MX Anywhere 3S mouse function on my laptop, as they claimed the mouse's tendency to drop Bluetooth connection must be the fault of the laptop. Having paid for this second product and after figuring out how to get the mouse connected properly through it rather than through Bluetooth, the mouse is indeed now working flawlessly. This Logi Bolt receiver is the correct product to work with the M Anywhere 3S mouse (pay attention to the model number, the older versions use a different receiver) and it appears well made. It is hard to find the information of how to get the mouse connected via the Logi Bolt USB receiver on Logitech's web site, however, because it is actually included with most of their products which need it, and therefore is pre-connected when purchased. For me, I needed to first remove the MX Anywhere 3S mouse as a Bluetooth device, reboot the laptop, and after that plug the Logi Bolt receiver into my laptop's USB port, install the LogiOptions+ software, and connect the devices through the software. At the end, the laptop regards only the USB receiver as its Bluetooth device, and the mouse works well through it. I wrote an earlier version of this review with a link to the hard-to-find page on Logitech's web site that explains how to do this but apparently that violates community guidelines, so call Logitech support if you need help. By the way, I really think they should have included this receiver with their MX Anywhere 3S mouse, just as they do for the MX Master 3S mouse.

Quick and Compact
Looks great and super compact! Noticeably better (or I’m biased and it’s the placebo effect I have no idea) connectivity over the USB-A dongle with fewer dropouts. Feels faster and probably worth it for the price but that depends on your needs as a buyer. I like that I can use it with my MacBook if I so choose and that it frees up another port elsewhere. Unfortunately I do not have a banana for scale. Also note that according to Logitech it has a higher power output (by up to 3x) which offers a more stable connection with less congestion, lower latency and fewer dropouts (which I attest to), and it can connect to up to six devices instead of the last generation’s max of two or three. I like it but if you already have the old one and don’t really need a USB-C version that’ll work fine. It comes for “free” with their new MX Master 4 mouse (which costs $115 instead of the $100 of the last generation). Since its Logitech setup is instantaneous and very intuitive to the point that my dog could probably do it.

Works with M575 S Logitech Trackball!!!
Works with M575 S Logitech Trackball!!! Problem: Laptop only has USB-C Ports. M570 Trackball has USB-A Receiver. Using a USB-A to USB-C Adapter to correct this problem. However it does stick out about an inch and has a chance to get snapped off or break the port. Solution: I ended up getting the M575 S Logitech Trackball since it can use the Bolt connection. The Bolt Adapter works great, easy installation, and I highly recommend the M575 S Logitech Trackball as well. It has the look and feel of the M570 but its best feature is the super quiet clicks.

Laggy and terrible quality
I bought it for the Logitech Mx Ergo S mouse and the K950 Slim Keyboard. Both are supposed to be Bolt compatible. Connecting the devices is a pain and doesn't always work. The lag is ridiculous on both the mouse and the keyboard. I tried using several ports on a 13" laptop, so it's not the location, port or using a hub. This is also the only Bluetooth receiver I have. The same mouse and keyboard work fine with a Bluetooth connection. I actually thought the receiver would work better compared to Bluetooth, but it's quite the opposite. To make matters worse, the thing disintegrated after less than two months of very low use.
