Q: Will the key board work with this?

Yes. I have the keyboard for the Pro 8. There is even a "latch" to hold the keyboard in place when closed. I hope this helps.

Q: are the problems with the kickstand and the pen holder size fixed? i see many bad reviews related to these two issues.

Just purchased one the pen holder is for the old style not the slim pen

Q: Is there any place for a cable lock so my Surface Pro won't get grabbed while I'm at the coffee shop?

Could run though the Velcro hand strap, but nowhere hard to secure a lock. Find a less sketch coffee shop.

Q: Have they resolved the issue with the pen holder? (old vs new style)

I think they expect us to throw away our new pen and go buy an old one for their case.
