I play solo with two characters and have one original core box. Should I get this or a second original core box?

For the most part, a second core box will allow you to make decks for any 2 characters (not for every choice of 3, though, but maybe every reasonable choice). There are a couple of cards in the revised core set which weren't in the original.

If I already own the original core set but never got a second for 4 player play, should I get this or just another of the original core set?

Even with 2 core sets, there are 4 investigator combinations you can't make, if I recall. With the new revised core set, each of THOSE investigators actually have an included deck. The cost is greater but I'd recommend the revised one if you're planning to do 4 players.

What is the difference between this revised game, and the original $35 game?

The revised core set adds some cards from other expansions to help new players have more options before buying expansions to the game. Lots of players have had to purchase two core sets in the past to have enough cards to play with 4 players, but I understand that this revised set gives you enough to play with up to 4 players without needing a second copy of the original game. (I only play with 2 players, so I can't say how well that works.) Everyone who plays with more than a couple of players highly recommend getting this revised set. Enjoy the game! :)
