David-Dorian Ross is a talented teacher
I bought Tai Chi Fit: FLOW about five weeks ago and have used it every weekend and day off (that’s when I have the time) since. During the week I fill in with Tai Chi Fit: TO GO, which I will review separately. I find the program easy - but not too easy - to follow, and I find David-Dorian Ross’s teaching style relaxed but focused. I’m a teacher. I know good teaching when I see it, and this is good teaching. DDR breaks each movement down into simple components and at first uses terminology that is easy to identify with the movement, so that “parting the horse’s mane” is introduced as “tossing the moon away” or “tossing the frisbee,” and “ward off” becomes “part the curtain.” Before you realize it, you’re doing genuine Tai Chi movements to both left and right. The mirroring method helps. The tone is light but not silly, and the use of humor is just about right. How much you get out of the program is up to you: you can move just your arms and use a chair for the leg exercises, or you can go as low as you can, turn your waist, shift your weight, and work hard on your balance.I enjoy Tai Chi Fit: FlOW a little more each time I use it. The movements and transitions are becoming smoother, and my balance is improving steadily on the leg work. After several unsuccessful attempts to do Tai Chi-based exercise via VHS/DVD, I am very glad to have found this series. It works.

Enjoyable
I have a library of David's Tai-Chi DVDs and enjoy all of them. I found the background ambiance of his earlier DVDs to be more eye-appealing and blended into the practice more seamlessly than the current indoor venue (which could be the dining area of a catering hall). I also found the edit quality to be a bit amateur. This particular workout is approximately 50 minutes in length, so schedule this workout accordingly.

Great for beginners!
This DVD is great for someone starting out exercising. It's also great for anyone who is interested in Tai Chi. I tried to learn Tai Chi by video since 1998. I struggled with the rotation in the Yang Short form; my back would be to the TV, so I couldn't see what I was supposed to do!. Tai Chi Fit: Flow is a great introduction to Tai Chi, because it uses the movements of Tai Chi, but leaves out the rotation! The teacher is always in front of you and you can see clearly what you are supposed to do every minute of the routine. And there is LOTS of repetition, which gives you a chance to learn the moves and to really get it into your body before you move on to the next move. I like the pacing of this routine, because David-Dorian Ross starts with gentle movements to get you into the flow state and then ramps it up with more intense moves and activity. After 15 minutes of intense activity, he brings it back down to less intense moves. You are always moving, but you don't get too tired, so you can keep going to the end. He does a great job of telling you what to do before you do it so that you don't get lost. This is a great video for those who are new to exercise or new to Tai Chi.

Easy to follow and provides a great workout...
The idea behind this Tai Chi DVD is to provide a workout sequence that you do not have to memorize. You simply follow along a series of well designed movements. These are meant to exercise the entire body in a manner that is suitable for the beginner. I have found the intensity of the workout to be just right for me, as I am recovering from a health issue. I can easily stop the workout and resume it after a period of rest, should I need it.I find that the gentle movements of Tai Chi stimulate the mind and the body, creating a feeling of well being. Mr. David-Dorian Ross is a very positive, motivating and encouraging teacher. The quality of the DVD is excellent, all movements are clear and easy to see and to follow. The back of the DVD case provides information with regards to the target audience, the types of problems that the workout may help with, and the level of proficiency of the student the workout is designed for. I intend to keep using this DVD in order to improve my health at a safe and steady rate. The price is right, and the DVD arrived on time. So far, I am really enjoying this Tai Chi DVD.

Good supplement to tai chi training
I really like this DVD. It introduces tai chi in a more dance-like, "flowing" method that gets you moving very quickly with greater early success. And, if you have been in a class or have been using a DVD using the traditional, structured, step-by-step method that sometimes can get a little mechanical, it provides a complementary, co-training method to smooth out and lighten up your practice. You need both. You have to learn the steps and where your hands go in a fairly precise way but you also have to get into the flowing/dancing/feeling-you- body-move part to have fun and to get out of your head. Without both you won't really get the benefits. You have to practice the scales alot, but you have to play a couple of tunes too.Get this video to supplement your drill work. It won't replace the drill and practice you need to do to learn tai chi but it probably will make it more fun and make your form more graceful. And David Dorian-Ross is a very entertaining, respected and knowledgeable guy to boot.

Good Basic Movements
Definitely beginner exercises. I bought it along with most of the Over 60 series. I rotate through them during the Covid isolation period. Easy to follow. Good instructions. Works for me.

David is a wonderful instructor and this is a very good video
I have been a nurse for quite a while and I am very health conscious. I also am very aware of the "flow" of energy in our bodies. This video makes learning technique easy. Most important part is "listening" and "feeling" your body. Now is the time to give yourself a gift, the gift of energy and flow. Your body will thank you.

Flow and smile
Flow was my first intro to the world of Tai Chi. David-Dorian Ross was my first experience with a Tai Chi instructor. His method of keep smiling, positive reinforcement and encouragement just made it that much easier to get the movements.Whether you get it right or keep up or stop part way through....as long as you keep trying, keep smiling and be good to yourself.....this is what flow is all about. The movements are gentle and easy to learn. His instructions and voice are wonderful. Please try it and I know you will love it.

Brilliant!!
I have recently received this wonderful DVD. I did Tai Chi for ten years but for reasons I gave it up for an equal amount of time. I have just decided, at the age of 68, to go back to it because I missed the awesome benefits of this discipline for the mind and, more importantly, the body. I'm not up for classes these days so decided to have a DVD at home and do it as and when I want to. This has to be the best made instructional video that I've come across. David is a wonderful instructor, making you want to get on with having a go! It's easy and not at all complicated, making it so nice for beginners and also us older folk. There is enough 'form' to make a great practice session and he has the rather clever way of stringing one move together with the next without you realising what he's doing and making it flow beautifully. It get's a big five stars from me! I thoroughly recommend this DVD.

new to tai chi
I bought the dvd 4 weeks ago and since that I have done the workout 2 to 3 times a week. I love it. Very easy explained and you can follow the movements due to the mirrow explanations. It takes 55 minutes in total but those 55 minutes fly.

an age saver
I just turned 60 and I had been feeling sluggish, my muscles were not being used like they should, I kept losing my balance and more. I had been wanting to try Tai Chi for years but never did, but I decided there is no time like the present. Probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. In 5 weeks, not a long time really, I am noticing a big difference...I can now stand comfortably on one leg at a time without falling, I feel my muscles working, I am nowhere near as tight, I can move so much better. Something simple like getting in and out of the car, sitting and standing up, all so much easier. David-Dorian Ross has such a soothing, calming voice, he makes me smile and instructs the program wonderfully. If anyone needs to feel better physically and mentally - this is the best way to do it. The best investment for your health.
