Good insight into Mahatma Gandhi as a person
I've read the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi and have learnt a lot about him growing up in India. In spite of all my knowledge on him, I find this book an interesting read for it provides an insight into his personal advancement from a struggling lawyer to the Father of a Nation. It was inspiring to learn how he overcame each shortcoming and tried to live his life with honesty, integrity and transparency until his death. My only complaint with the book is that it is a bit short. It was a quick read. But, the content was good.

Brilliant
Of many books about Gandi that I have read, I find that this one really follows and details not just his political beliefs and his many professional and family activities, but his development as a spiritual leader as well and lots of photos. It's a beautiful book and I plan to buy more copies as gifts.

A Tool for Study
Though this book feels like it has been cobbled together from different sources it provides a sense of Gandhi's spiritual growth and the sources for it. His ideas and principles are clearly and often repeatedly stated offering the student the benefit of repetition in varied words. I'll be reading it again and again to extract a summary of those. Recommended for beginning Gandhi explorers.

A Rich and Wonderful Pictorial Biography
This is a beautiful book that tells Ghandi's story through wonderful photographs and a simple and elucidating text. Ghandi appears os a struggling human being who changes himself through hard work. It really is a story of transformation, and it's very well told here. I liked it so well, I used it as part of our study on world revolutions when I was teaching ninth grade last year, and the students also liked it very much.

This first part of this book was great for learning about Gandhi's life
This first part of this book was great for learning about Gandhi's life. The pictures were enjoyable as well. Near the end of the first part of the book, the main ideas were being repeated. I didn't enjoy the second part of the book which focused on analyzing Gandhi's philosophy and also repeated many of the ideas made in the first part of the book.

I knew that Mohandas Gandhi was a truly dedicated man ...
I knew that Mohandas Gandhi was a truly dedicated man who spent many years in efforts to free The People of India from the domination of theBritish Empire. Eknath Easwaran has created a masterful view of his life. He clearly studied and researched the life of Gandhi and describes his achievements in ways that draw the reader into his achievements. I admire this author and man of God, Gandhi.

Historically Interesting
I've always been fascinated by Gandhi and his life story. I read this book on a recent business trip to India. It's a good book to learn more about this man and his teaching. It's more focused on this life events, and less on his philosophies, so be aware of that going in. But otherwise, it's certainly worth reading.

Ahimsa today
I really enjoyed this book because after reading it I understood that some of the great social changesin the last 50 years were greatly influenced by Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence. We simply have to think of Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandella and many others who were willing to give their lives for what they believed to be the truth.
