Natural Hair Color-The Only Way to Go!
I used the dark brown color after suffering from allergic reactions to the permanent and semi-permanent hair commercial products. I am now done with chemical products after many years of use and am glad to have found a natural dye solution for my gray hair. Because it is a natural product, I have to be content with the fact that it does not work in the same time frame or conditions as a chemical product. It is a dry powder and you need to mix it with hot (not boiling) water. My hair is shoulder length so I can get 3 applications out of a 22 oz box. First: You MUST wash your hair and NOT apply conditioner. A hard habit to break. This product needs to absorb into your hair shaft. Time:It seemed to work best when I left it on for 90 minutes and used the hair dryer for heat at least 3 times with 20 minute intervals between. Smell: It smells "green" like plants. I don't know any other way to describe it. But to me it is better than the toxic chemical smells of other hair products. Effectiveness: Acceptable coverage of gray hair but not as thorough as a chemical product. It will be different for each individual. Hair Condition: My scalp is now healed of the rash, itching, and blisters, as well as the dry hair I was suffering from with the chemical hair color product. My hair was soft, and shiny after use of the Radico. Final Evaluation: I am willing to deal with the change in process between a natural product like Radico and chemical hair color products because I am no longer exposing my system to cancer causing products. Fortunately, my scalp and hair agree with my choice.

Does not work.
The color did not take very well, it two applications of 90 minutes each, and it turned my hair purple. I tried it two different months, both times I had to apply the color twice. I tried multiple times to contact customer service but they never responded.

No chemicals! Yay! Not perfect but I don't get sick from it, so I'm glad to use it.
This is the only dye I've used for years because it contains no chemicals. The ones with chemicals, including others said to be healthier products (false advertising), cause me to break out in horrible burning itching eczema, not to mention that the most toxic chemical used in almost all of them is said to induce cancer. That said, it doesn't work very well. It has to be gooped on very thick and left for at least eight hours, and even then, there will be some silver shining through on roots if I look closely when it is done. One comment suggested not washing it with shampoo, just water, for a couple of washes, which I did but didn't notice a big difference. I can't do this well myself so I pay a hairdresser to apply it for me (some salons refuse to apply it on ridiculous legal grounds) and walk out with it on and wash it out later myself. It also has a swampy smell that takes a while to fade. Then the color begins wearing out somewhat quickly. That said, I am happy to have a hair dye without chemicals in a world loaded with toxic chemicals, including almost every other hair dye, which make me sick. And I'm happy to not have grey hair which looks terrible with my skin tone. The color and texture when fresh is actually quite nice. And also, this dye comes out easily from towels and clothes.

Amazing!
I love this product and have been using it for about a year now. I tried the strawberry blond and the auburn red first before liking the light brown best. The strawberry blond and auburn red left my hair a bit too bright for my taste. I've found the light brown has a slight reddish color which is all I"m looking for. I feel this product works best on hair that has not been dyed with chemicals. When I first started using it half my hair had been dyed blonde with chemicals and the dye didn't take very well until after several applications; however, the part of my hair that had grown out and was not previously dyed worked great with the organic hair color on the first take. Don't leave it on much longer than the directions say especially if you're using one of the reddish dyes; there's a good chance it will look like a clown. As for the smell, if you are used to scents and fragrances of conventional beauty care products this might smell weird to you. I don't mind the smell personally. It sure beats the eye-stinging smell of chemical hair dyes that warn you to have good ventilation when you use them! When you mix the dye the color is green, but I promise that my hair has come out looking the color on the box every time. Overall I love this product. It gives my hair a great color and leaves it shiny and soft. If you are looking to change to natural/organic beauty products you've found the hair dye you've been looking for.

The color is good, though there is a slight green cast in some spots. Did excellent at covering the grey and whites. Wasn't as soft as I had hoped, and has a strong smell of spinach. Would have given it 5 stars if it had made my hair softer and it had less of a spinachy smell.

Takes too long and leaves a strange odor on hair
I'm not a fan of this hair dye, and wouldn't buy it again. There are two major drawbacks: - Time consuming: It took two treatments for the color to work. My hair was barely dyed after the first 1.5 hours, so the next day, I had to dye it for 2 additional hours. AND, the manufacturer should doublecheck their reco to mix 1:3 (dye powder: water)--the dye paste was way too watery. - Awful swampy odor: The dye left a strong, unpleasant odor on my hair that smelled like a swamp. Even after washing it several times, my hair still smelled awful. The odor disappears when the hair is dry, but the second it gets wet, the swamp odor returns.

Never man- made chemicals again for this gal!
Why would anyone use chemicals to dye their hair? peroxide eats hair. These are plants and coat hair. My hair is as shiny as it was when I was a kid now that I have stopped chemically treating my hair for a year. This light ash blond coats my grays enough so that it looks as though I spend a fortune highlighting my brown hair. My hair is a gorgeous shimmering light brown with this product. if your hair is prone to brassy undertones than you must have indigo on hand. You can mix some into the dye or apply later if an issue. I always add a bit of indigo to my hair.if your hair is frosted than be very careful with indigo. This product came quickly and is less brassier than most- they use a colorless henna to help dye, which is a smart technique. Strand test can be done by collecting hair from your brush if you don't want to cut snips of your hair. I love Radico Colour Me Organic products, The Henna Guys, and Colora henna products... Also, if you are trying to let your hair turn gray gradually- this is the way to go. Just do less time each time and eventually you end up with gray hair. WE all know that colored hair on old leathery faces just looks awful.
