Premium Imported Barberries - Zereshk (16Oz - 1 lbs)

Thanks to Ottolenghi, I found out this incredible red berry and I use it not only in Iranian dishes, but also in French apple pies or oat, it is so good! Barberries make me think of goji as I bought them dried too (you need to wash them before using them), but also because they have similar benefits for the skin. They also help to fight diabetes for example. Give it a try, they are worth it. The bag is big, and you need very little in your stew, desserts, etc. This berry comes from a bush. There are many varieties and this plant exists on all continents even if it is more popular in Asia apparently. A great discovery for me! I have many products from this brand, and I recommended you to look at the storefront.

I was looking to add these to my regular diet, and was happy to find these on Amazon. They are perfect to add to my oatmeal bowls - adding a bit of texture and tartness to other fruit I add. I have repurchased, and will continue to have this as a pantry staple.

Read a few reviews that said they received dark berries and thought they were old. Mine were darker in color and they were excellent. I use them for zereshk polo.

The barberries are in a vacuum packed container. Do not be fooled by the color in the photos, they are black. If Barberries are left out in the open, they dry and discolor very quickly. These barberries have not dried, they are moist in a vacuum pack, which makes me to believe either they are extremely low quality or very old. I am returning my package without opening it.

It's my second time ordering this, first time was great, but this time was a bit low quality. It was dark. A fresh one should be bright red.

Barberries are one of my favorite ingredients! Sweet and tart, they are always a great addition to any recipe. I especially love them in tahdig – the traditional Iranian dish of rice and crunchy bits. Barberries also make a surprisingly great addition to Irish soda bread – adding not only a burst of flavor but also a great pop of color. I'd definitely recommend giving barberries a try!

The quality was good, not perfect, but I am satisfied, and the price is acceptable.

Yes I will be buying this product again and again until my wife states no more....she cooks with this, uses it in our oatmeal apple cereal she makes fresh during the fall and bakes with this. IT is our new Cranberry substitute. The color and taste is consistent and the cooking/baking does not change it. Great healthy change to add to your dietary tables.
