Astounding!
Who knew Dave Grohl could write??One of the best autobiographies I've read. On par with another complete hero of mine, Oliver Stone.Full of humility, gratitude, and humour, his story is very relatable even to us minions. Amazing opportunities and experiences shared that are poised as luck or timing, however, you can't fail to acknowledge the skill, resilience, and time/effort he has put in to craft his art to become someone so fortunate. You do sense there is a multitude of stories that depict the harsher realities of his journey and the tone of the story has been modified to 'protect the innocent'. Had they been included, the book would've been far less enjoyable in my opinion.Haven't been able to put the book down since it arrived, in complete awe of Dave Grohl as ever, having this level of intimacy shared amongst the pages has been sheer indulgence and a real treat!!..I would like to read the more cathartic version should he ever choose to release it!! ;)Brilliant author and fantastic storytelling!

Entertaining
This book was just what I needed to unwind after a stressful week. It made me laugh, and on occasion it made me well up. It certainly kept me entertained.Dave Grohl is a natural storyteller. This isn't one of those long winded autobiographies, nor is it a vanity project. It is exactly what it says on the cover; Tales Of Life And Music.Grohl's passion for music shows throughout the book, as does his love for his family and the friendships he has cultivated along the way.Grohl doesn't come across as arrogant or as a diva. In fact, there is a hint of insecurity. He certainly doesn't take himself too seriously.Dave Grohl is one of the good guys. He's had an interesting life to date, he's made good music and he's had a lot of fun along the way. He's shared some of that fun with us in this book.

Essential reading for fans of our Lord and Master
Absolutely riveting, I have no idea why its taken me so long to buy this as I've been a FF fan for years. It really is a must read for anyone who like Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters/Nirvana & rock in general. So many great anecdotes, amazing right place right time stories. The ups and downs of fame and the music industry, the friends made and lost, all written in a very easy going manner. As you read, you really can hear DG narrating this in your mind, he really is The Storyteller!

Easy reading and full of anecdotes.
First impression:👀 I am a Dave Grohl fan so this book is not going to be an uphill read for me. This book takes you from his early and formative years, right up to before Taylor’s untimely passing. Don’t expect this to be a fly on the wall warts and all expose of life in the Foo Fighters or Nirvana as there is hardly a bad word said about anyone, although it stops short of becoming anodyne by being a fascinating read nonetheless. What I liked:✔️ Easy to read and you just know it is going to be full of stories about his life in music.✔️ The namechecks were unconscious and always in the context of the story being told and not just for their own sake.Anything I didn’t like so much:❌ I just wanted more. This is a book of highlights and lowlights, with snapshots taken at important times with all of life’s repetition taken out. However, if this was another 100 pages long, I probably would have lapped it all up.❌ I am not a fan of the parts of the book about his experiences with UFOs, except for the genesis of the Foo’s band name, as I don’t believe in them at all. If you do believe then this might be fight up your street. Conclusion:✅ I read the Kindle edition of this book over a couple of days, dipping in and out, but I could have easily got through the lot in one day if I chose. I enjoyed the stories very much, but I get the impression that a lot more went on that didn’t make the cut. It’s a great fan book and a recommended holiday read. Thanks for taking the time to read my review, I hope you found it helpful.

Funny, emotive, heartwarming and genuine.
This book has been one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve ever experienced. As a huge Dave Grohl fan I was already aware of some of the stories in book having seen countless interviews of Dave over the years relaying them. This book is a glimpse behind the curtain and Dave has poured his heart and soul into every single letter on each page. You can just feel what drives him, his passion for music, the undeniable love he has for family (both blood related and the family you choose). He clearly has family, love and music running straight through his core.I loved Dave before reading his book but it gave me a greater understanding of the man who has made his own dreams come true but has never lost sight of what truly matters to him his family, his love and his music. I feel I know Dave Grohl a little bit better now and if possible love him even more.If you are a fan of Dave’s or not you will enjoy this book, Daves writing is sharp, witty and emotive. I look forward to the next one.

Immersive and beautifully written
I’m not a hard-core fan of Dave Grohl - I bought this book for my husband (who is a dh fan!) but picked it up when I had a hospital appointment with a long wait. Well. Now I am a fan - I don’t recognise many of the bands/musicians (it’s not a genre I had much exposure to, although I have now seen the Foos live a few times and have fallen in love with their music). His writing is beautiful - it feels like a truly honest reflection on life moments. I felt as though I had sat and had a long chat over a cup of tea (me) and a whisky (him!). His philosophy on life is one I hope to emulate, in some small way, in my own life - his sense of adventure and continued awe at the serendipitous moments of his life. A fascinating and immersive read that I would recommend to anyone, not just the hard-core Foos/Nirvana/Scream etc fans.

A good read
A long read but some interesting stuff there i didn't know and some things that weren't in there that maybe should have been. Followed this guy as a fan since the early 90's. A sign of a good book is that you feel you are actually listening to the author read to you. It was definitely Dave reading to me and thankyou Dave for taking the time to do so.I enjoyed the book
