a great book about blended learning
If I was an administrator or instructional coach, I would give this book a 5 star ratings. It covers a variety of important topics - from how to get more devices into the hands of students, to how a teacher can set up a blended learning classroom. As a teacher, I found the last 1/2 the most important and the first 1/2 of the book less significant. I'm not concerned about how to get devices for the entire school or motivating all teachers at a site. My main concern as a teacher, is how to get my classroom started. Other teachers can do what they want. Having said that, the second 1/2 of the book is vital and incredibly important. There were templates to help me write my first blended unit, suggestions for how I can motivate students, ideas for how I can support students who finish early. All in all, a great book about blended learning!

Good for Admin, Not for Teachers Looking for Solutions
This books isn't helpful if you have graduated recently from an accredited teaching program. Some specific examples are given, but authors mostly speak in generalities. I can see how it would be helpful for administrators and teacher leaders who want a big picture view of the power of blended learning. Unfortunately, I didn't learn anything new in how to make station rotation, whole group rotation, or individualized playlists more effective or efficient. My biggest takeaway was that the purchase of adaptive learning technology is needed so that teachers aren't using all of their energy and time trying to build curriculum from the ground up. However, as a classroom teacher and department chair, I don't have control over that, which is why this book is more important for school leaders to read than the average classroom teacher.

Actionable resource for educators!
The authors of Blended Learning in Action describe blended learning in the context of real classroom experiences with actionable strategies for teachers. They present a foundation for thinking about blending learning in the classroom and share stories from their own experiences and as well as vignettes from classrooms across the country. Instead of offering one “right way” to implement blended learning, they discuss a variety of models and paint a picture for readers of what this could look like in your school or classroom. This book includes tips for educators getting started with blended learning or taking their practice to the next level. It discusses different classroom models including the station rotation model for blended learning. In this book you’ll find a handful of examples that demonstrate how there isn’t a “one-size fits all” structure for your classroom.

Vague generalities
I bought this book hoping that it would provide some guidance on HOW to initiate blended learning in my classroom. Unfortunately, i found very few particulars. Instead, the discussion was mostly philosophical. Any mention of HOW TO was quite vague.

Comprehensive Information
Well written and structured to provide information to a wide variety of audiences. Educational Leaders desiring to learn about blended learning will find a lot of useful information. Some teachers may desire to skip parts meant for leadership, however, I think some teachers who read the sections for leaders may find the urge to move into more of a leadership role 🙂

I literally loved this from Page 1
Beyond phenomenal. I literally loved this from Page 1. I am going to have to re-read and re-read, because there are little gems of great ideas on almost every page. If you are an educator, you must get this and the previous book Caitlin R. Tucker wrote. This is a game-change. If you are a dreamer, a do-er and a magic maker, you're going to love how this ups your game.

Thoughtful Examination of Blended Learning
I chose this rating because the text had research to validate its assertions. The pace was comfortable and I could skip around and read the parts that I was interested in and the order that made sense to me . This would be a good fit for people who are interested in blended learning, and who would like an overall picture of the topic. The real-life examples were also very helpful.
