Rugged and durable
This is the second set of locks we purchased for our church ministry after being burglarized. The previous padlocks were cut so this will make it much more difficult to cut. The quality of Master Lock stood out and it's also designed for outdoors.

Definitely worth the money to deter quick thefts
Have been using this as my gym lock (overkill, I know - but as I got my laptop stolen, I'm done screwing around) - it fits with very little clearance left in the lock hole (about the width of a human hair), so its a perfect fit. You cannot move it around or yank on it very easily. It is incredibly heavy and rather intimidating looking. The brass armor shroud around it is incredibly sturdy and does a good job of making life difficult for anyone with a bolt cutter. The boron alloy shackle is also much higher quality than the standard locks you find on the shelves, with a very true metallic feel. The combination are definitely on the stiffer side - they will not easily glide like tiny padlocks. In 3 months, I have not experienced the "sticking" issue, but the tumblers definitely prefer to be turned one way, which is not really a big deal for me.It is important to note that the lock only opens one way, and the dials will get easier to move with use, but they are STIFF. Personally, I like it as it reinforces the whole tough look of the lock. The rubber bumper, which I presume is to keep the lock from scratching whatever it is rubbing against, is flimsy and I lost it on the third use. Again, not a big deal.No padlock is going to be a foolproof solution in the world of sledgehammers, shotguns, and bolt cutters - but this intimidating looking lock definitely fits the bill to help persuade a would-be thief to perhaps move onto an easier target - (or at least convince them that bringing giant bolt cutters to a gym is too risky).

It works! I'd like to see how a thief could get past this without serious power tools.
Potential intruders will cry when they see this. It is designed with extended collar protection that rises almost to the height of the shackle. Making it impossible to approach with a bolt cutter. It is heavy. It is solid. I got the combination version. I'm prone to losing keys. It may take a moment to get the shackle to latch. Just took some practice. I didn't know what I was doing ( never seen one before) and it took 10 minutes from instructions to full deployment.

Its a big lock, with only a few draw backs all in all I like it
Update 12-17-20this was on my storage unit ( big orange box place U know the one... ) apparently some one got in and sawed threw this thing like butter and was able to get into my unit in a few seconds. I was told from the friendly staff there that i should have been using the round style as it takes them slightly longer to seal my stuff. just be aware if your protecting valuables thieves have the right tools also.I used this on my storage unit ( shipping container ) its been through a season outside in Alaska...The Good,Seems beefy enough to handle the crow bar etc... ( its not the weak link on the container )The Bad,- Shackle will only swing one way, some times a pain when its cold out and you put it on reversed ( you can see the short part of the casting on the left rear in the picture, this is what the shackle swings over.-Black plastic band near the middle is basically an o-ring if removed there are some pins you can see ( don't know if that good or bad...-The numbers are on the bottom and the plastic flap has two hinge points/tags that hold it onto the lock this flap has been prone to falling off.-Numbers are stiff enough / slick enough that moving them can not be accomplished with a gloved had, while not normally an issue it sucks to grab this thing when its -20-while I love that the outside is a copper alloy ( no rust ) not sure what the inside is made of it does say this unit has a top seal, I've seen a little water in the spring go right through it ( also it did freeze once and i put some alcohol in it, seemed to go right in )- Its big and actually seems to hang at 45° and not lay flat on the container. be aware of this as may not fit some locks. Conclusion, its big its bulky and does what its supposed to do, if it breaks I would buy another one just like it.

Solid built lock
Great solid built lock. Using it on my outdoor shed. I love the combo on the bottom of the lock.

Careful when resetting the combination.
Very secure. Impressively strong and heavy. When you set a new combo be sure to follow the instructions to a "T", because if you goof up it will have neither the old combo nor the new and you will not be able to open it. None of the self-help suggestions on both the Amazon website and the MasterLock website worked. So I had to return it for a refund. To be fair, I have another of these that I've had better luck with. Works fine. Really strong. But when I set a new combo on it I am really careful!

Heavy Duty
Strong, secure and heavy duty. I loved it. It was just as I expected, wanted and needed for fence gate. Ease of opening, look, size and lock functionality.

Jammed unusable after second day of use
Absolutely nightmare. Second day of usage and it was absolutely jammed and unusable. Locked my bike and now need to go rent tools to break it off in a public space. I cannot stress enough how mortified I am, skip this
