Works better than expected
I am writing this review after sealing my windows and sliding door for the midwest winter. It worked absolutely amazing at keeping the drafts from coming in! Better than any plastic covering I used before. It also prevented the interior of my door from being condensed with water and freezing during the Sub-Zero chill. First time in a decade! Great temporary fix until I could get my doors replaced. Highly recommend.

Very good for seasonal air sealing
Really good for air sealing and removed after a season.

Not the best, not the worst.
On the one hand you’ve got drafty windows that you can feel. On the other hand you could use some super sticky semi-permanent tape to get the job done. This tape falls somewhere in the middle. It’s easy to work with, but it doesn’t maintain its stickiness as easily when taping corners and tricky spots. Works well if you have a completely flat surface/gap you are covering. If you can tape a flat surface in one application, then you are good, but if you need to pull the tape up and reseat it, then your stickiness loses a bit. I wouldn’t mind trying a different product that can hold better even with corners and reseating the tape. But, 3M is kinda the king of clear tape. This 10 yard roll got meAbout 3-4 windows (bottom half) of coverage. If you’ve got drafty windows, live where you have a major cold weather event not so often and have no plans to replace your windows soon: give this a try. I did clean my surface, but I admit I did not use alcohol to clean the surface as they suggest. Also, I suggest applying this a day or so before you need it so it last as long as you need it. I doubt it will leave a sticky residue behind.

I've tried several, this is the BEST
I live in a very old house and the windows can barely keep the heat in, much less keep the cold out, in the winters. So weather tape to the rescue. This stuff sticks VERY well and I can leave it on the window edges, where the glass meets the metal/wood, all winter long. I've noticed condensation on the windows and metal and IT STILL STICKS.I've experienced a big difference in heating costs when I use this - by at least 20% and sometimes more vs the year before - but I'm sure everyone's situation is different. For me, the tape cuts out all drafts where I place it and, in the rooms where I have it on the windows and floor vents (which I keep closed in winter since I use space heaters), it is so much warmer than in any room I don't use the tape. I'm pretty amazed at its ability to stop drafts and keep the cold out, especially after trying a few off-brand types. 3M knows its stuff.

On the fence
I have used this tape on several windows and I'm still not sure what I think about it. It definitely is a quick fix approach to sealing cracks and it doesn't require any special skill or tools. To some extent, the tape definitely works but the hard thing is that I don't know how well. The cold air flow can definitely be sealed shut, but cold air will still permeate the tape.I don't feel like there is any particular risk to our paint job as I had to lift the tape several times to get it applied just right. It is adhesive and sure but not aggressively so. If done right, it is not very apparent that it is even applied. However, that kind of result either takes a LOT of patience or maybe a natural touch. If not done well, it can look really sloppy. Getting the tape into a corner without it sticking to one side before I was ready took some practice. I found using smaller lengths of tape made the process easier to manage. The package doesn't come with a way to cut the tape and it cannot just be ripped. You will need scissors to make a clean cut. I think this tape is a fine short term solution, but I will likely remove it and caulk/patch for a cleaner, more long term solution.

Absolutely solid against wind chills!
My house has had significant drafts from both the front door and the garage door in winter, and leaking cool air out in summer. I was desperate. This tape is amazing! I started using it early summer. It completely stopped the air conditioning leak intobthe outdoors and into the garage. It literally cut my electric bill from an average of $160 during the heat of summer to about $110. I even had to turn the temperature up because it got too cold since I was no longer wasting air conditioning. But it really paid off this week. I live near Chicago, where the wind chills have been as low as -40 or colder this past several days. In the past, I'd feel horrid drafts come through the front, so bad I'd have to stuff things around the door. This tape, which is very easily applied in about two minutes, affixes to the edge ofcthe door on the inside. It overlaps the edge of the door and rests on the trim. Because the tape is very thick plastic, the wind cannot push it open and sneak past. It rests flush and is as effective as completely sealing off the door in plastic, which makes the door unusable. This gives you full access to come in and out with incredible protection against environmental issues. I have also noticed my gas bill is less and I can keep it set a couple degrees cooler because I'm not experiencing cold drafts. As an elderly person who has chronic health issues that leave me susceptible to exteme temperatures, this is a miracle!
