Good resource, but not for everybody.
I’ve been doing amateur home recording & mixing for years. This book is really tremendous for me and an easy read due to my familiarity with the subject matter. I really feel that it is helping to take my skills to the next level, and it jumps straight into material that is beneficial for me at my current experience level. But this is a book for me. It is a deeper dive into basic concepts I am already familiar with. It is not a book for beginners. It is a glorified cheat sheet. It frequently uses mixing engineer lingo and shorthand without even attempting to define terms for a reader who is just getting into producing. It will not tell you which DAW to use nor will it teach you the fundamentals of using one. The author assumes that you already have a DAW of choice and that you are already familiar with performing basic tasks within it. So this is NOT a good place to start if you don’t even know what a DAW is. I also do not think that professionals or extremely experienced amateurs would get much out of this book, since, again, it is a deep dive into basic concepts; it does not illuminate any particularly obscure or advanced production techniques. I am harping on this so much because the book bills itself as being for ~everybody~ and I find this to be disingenuous. This is, very specifically, a resource for people who are already mixing music, but aren’t satisfied with their mixes yet. If that’s who you are, let me tell you, that’s who I am too, and this book is perfect! But if that’s not you, you are probably looking for something different.

Probably basic information, but it's important stuff
I'm pretty new to recording/mixing, but from the novice point of view this book is valuable. I wish I'd read it before I starting making recordings. A lot of concepts that were pretty mixed together in my head are much more clear now, and it shows in my mixing. The book makes clear why you do things, and it provides workflow-oriented examples, in the sense that it explains how the author works through the process of mixing. It's agnostic about specific software (DAW and plugins), so you do need to be familiar with what you're using, but that makes the book all the more valuable. I'm pleased with this purchase.

Great info. personally hate the narration (sorry).
My Momma told me that if you don't have anything nice to say, then say nothing at all. Then again, she also told me a lot of other stuff that I also ignore. I bought the audiobook. I'm not a violent person at all. Matter if fact, I'm a goofy arse, laugh at everything clown, but this guy's voice? Holy hell. It fills me with rage. To me, sounds like a used car or life insurance salesman or maybe a lounge singer. I've never seen the guy's face, but all I can think while hearing him talk is how much his face craves my fist. The information in the book is solid and I don't want to take any work away from the narrator, but I do find it ironic that the worst thing about this book on audio is...the audio.

Nice mixing tips!
I think this is an overall great book with many good points and handy little tricks. It is very simple and Björgvin describes things in an understandable way. I think, though, that he doesn't cover all parts of mixing as in-depth as you would need for giving the full picture. For example, he didn't mention how to think when panning. But the book explains in a great way the most important aspects of mixing, and provides plenty of great advice. As a complementary book to other, more detailed books it is great, by helping you to focus on the right things and giving you a roadmad to follow while mixing.

Praktischer, pragmatischer Ratgeber

Concise, easy to read & then immediately apply to your mixes for an instant better sound
I read this book in 2 sittings. It's an easy read & Bjorgvin makes it interesting. In the past, I have read too many articles & watches too many youtube vids & just gotten confused. This book really is step-by-step. I wished I'd had this book years ago & I wouldn't have all my muddy mixes I have today. Now, I will go back & remix those songs & re-release. I'm just an amateur who writes & records songs for family & friends. But I find recording & mixing a bit addictive once you get into it. I recommend this read. And I'm about to read it again & write notes this time. Then probably read again. And do the online course version. Thanks for the book - great stuff.
