Make a Mind-Controlled Arduino Robot: Use Your Brain as a Remote (Creating With Microcontrollers Eeg, Sensors, and Motors)

Demonstrates the power of the Arduino community
The Arduino open-source development has swept the hobbist/Maker market. Its combination of a fairly powerful microcontroller, a good integrated development enviorment, an easy-to--use program language and a host of third-party and open source add-ons and projects. Makes it a natural starting point for anyone experimenting with robotics, automation and control. This book shows how to use Arduino to build a robot controlled by brainwaves, thanks to a one such add-on kit. The robot is simple enough to be a beginner's project and the book is complete enough to take you through the steps, including the program needed to make the thing run. This ain't Robbie The Robot from Forbidden Planet. The robot and its associated control system are both pretty crude and its capabilities are limited. But by the same token it's an easy project to build and seves as a great introduction to both robotics and the Arduino system.Best of all, the Arduino is open source and extensible. If you want to add on to your project later, you have what you need at your fingertips. For a bright 12-year-old (with a little adult participation) on up, this is one of the best ways to get into robotics.

Good as a starting point to understand Arduino basic commands
This book explains in very details all the process to create an Arduino small robot to be controled by an EEG headset. My only comment is that EEG technology is at a very early stage. The Arduino components evolve on a daily basis. The prototype presented in this book is mostly alpha stage. Good as a starting point to understand Arduino basic commands. This book could provide a link to an up to date reference on the latest technology on the market to create a mind controlled prototype.

Intriguing title.
Requires some advanced electronics knowledge if you want to try to do it yourself. Wish there was more info on the hardware/software integration part. Overall, a good intro to non-traditional methods to input commands to a robot. This book offer a real challenge to someone who wants to experiment wit "mind control" of objects.

An excellent book with good details for my students
This is an excellent book that has helped a number of my students work on neurocomputing controls using the Arduino microcontroller and an inexpensive single-sensor Neurosky EEG headset. This will not give you full control like is possible with a more advanced Emotiv EPOC 14-sensor headset but it costs around $100 and can bring great fun to young Makers and STEM students!

Great Book!
It's a great book, and very detailed! Not only showed me how to create the robot, but also gave me ideas for future projects!

Relatively concisely described project.
Good, short book on building a specific robot using well understood products. Nicestarting project for this type of robot.

Required hardware doesn't work
Nothing against this book, it seems like it is full of good information, however the MindWave headset required to build anything never worked for me at all. The MindWave failed to properly work with either Win 7 or Win XP. Sadly, without the MindWave headset working, the project in the book is rather pointless. I am returning both the book and the frustrating MindWave headset.

Mehr erhofft
Ich hatte mir mehr erhofft von diesem Buch, nämlich die Funktionsweise von mind-controlled Headsets zu verstehen. Aber auf jeden Fall ist es ein Buch um mit dieser Thematik zu starten.

Mind-Controlled Arduino Robot
Molto interessante e spiegato abbastanza bene.Non ho ancora provato ad implementarlo, sono perplesso sul fatto che necessita l'acking di un dispositivo bluetooth ... vi farò sapere

Good, if you buy the 100$ device
All the Arduino projects usually use couples bucks devices. The description of this book does not tell you that this book is actually dedicated to that 100$ device. For the rest these are small, already seen projects.
