It is possible that this woven floss is the best on the market. It is second best to the discontinued 3M Floss RX, however. The woven part is what makes it superior. Slippery floss, especially waxed floss, just glides right over the tiny particles of plaque; if it removes them at all, it misses many. I learned this from a highly professional dentist who is in a position to know.Johnson & Johnson, JNJ as they prefer, spun off REACH to the Listerine company which is now part of JNJ. Soon, the packaging was change, and the new packaging is confusing. You have to look carefully at the label. In small print is the word "mint" but in a larger font is "contains cinnamon." As far as I can tell, there is no change in the way the woven mint floss made. I finished the last of my batch of the original Reach floss, and noticed a white powder came out of an empty floss container. I tasted it, and sure enough, it contains a hint of cinnamon; I had not noticed that before. I suspect that the bold cinnamon label on the packaging is there because some people may be allergic to cinnamon. The new plastic container's logo has changed so you have to look carefully to see the word "mint." Worst, on the Amazon site, you may find at least for different packaging choices for the same Woven Mint Dental Floss.

I was prepared not to like this product because I had liked the old one very well.When I got this today I compared it with my old Reach which I still had. I thought that perhaps the new one might be a fraction of a millimeter thinner, but after using both I really can't tell the difference. I know some people felt that the cinnamon flavor was too intense, but I thought it was good. I do have sensitive teeth and this did not bother me at all.I am very happy to be able to find this because, as many people know, it's not readily available in local stores. The price is good, the product is good, and I'm satisfied.PS: The old product is on the left side and the new one is on the right side.************* THIS IS MY UPDATED REVIEW MARCH, 2017 ************It's taken me this long to get to the last of my dental floss (it came with six containers of floss)--but boy, has it changed since I ordered in 2015. I'm guessing that I had received four of the older ones and then two of the newer product.The stuff I'm now using is not only flimsy, but it shreds all the time. It's like a completely different product. I can't use it without it tearing horribly each time and getting caught between my teeth. My teeth didn't change, so I can only guess that they redid the product, and back in 2015 I was fortunate enough to get mostly old/stronger floss. I used some other floss I had on hand, and had no bad issues at all.Very disappointing and surprising. I would NOT buy this again.

After years of having had worthy but not outstanding dental hygenists, I finally got one who not only does an exceptional job, but also is the kind of dental care instructor every person should have. Among her wise suggestions has been to use the same dental floss she uses in the office, which is this. It succeeds because it is woven and fuzzy, the opposite of most flosses that are thin and smooth, being either waxed or made of Teflon. Those little "hairs" and ample thread diameter not only grab all manner of grungy goop, but also clean off plaque with unusual effectiveness. Of course, that assumes the user pushes floss down into the gum to get that first millimeter or so below the gumline where so much plaque accumulates.Theory is one thing, results another. After having switched over to this floss for two months, my dentist found my gums and lack of plaque to be markedly improved. Small change, but a big happy outcome.

This is the floss recommended by my dentist. When I look for it in the stores, I am lucky to find any. It seems the waxed stuff is the most popular, so most places do not even carry the woven floss.I floss at least once per day, and after a while, I started creating grooves in my gums. A bit too vigorous. The woven floss was recommended to me as a gentler floss. It does a great job of cleaning my teeth and gums. Since switching to this floss and a powered toothbrush, my dental checkups are always nearly perfect.I also like the mint, or cinnamon flavorings.

Although it took some getting used to the first time I tried it, this quickly became my favorite dental floss. I fear it's being discontinued as has happened with every other floss, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. that I've ever really liked. It seems to be getting harder and harder to find. Sigh. I like my dental floss/tape to be minty (preferably peppermint) and have enough width and texture to stay between my teeth and clean them. I dislike the satiny type flosses - they are way too thin and slick for my teeth, popping right out and leaving my teeth feeling as though I didn't use any floss at all. Why bother? I don't know what I'll use when I can't find this any more.

as i understand it, the reach woven floss will no longer be carried under the johnson and johnson brand, rather, it is being moved to the listerene family of products. the only difference that i can discern is that cinnamon has replaced mint as the flavor. to me, this makes a big difference, as i really liked the mint taste, and care little for the new cinnamon flavor. the floss still performs in the same manner, and since it is the only product out there that my periodontist and dentist recommends for me, i'll have to live with the new flavor, albeit reluctantly.
