Araby Paperback – October 6, 2014

I got an A in my class because I read every page once over, then a second time to read between the lines. Had I not known the symbolism he intended I might have thought this was just mumbo jumbo. It is clearly brilliant.

The use of metaphors, similes, and personification are outstanding!

I use this short story with college students. Joyce is a linguistic gem and his descriptions bewilder many but they are worth analyzing.

It was required reading at school.

Sorry, I'm just not attuned to James Joyce's works. I can't get surreptitious with his characters. I'm probably not Irish enough or it's a voice from a time and place I can't relate to......But I know he's revered and I respect his work.... I'll keep trying anyway....

Good story

It was a book
