Great sling for a backpack!
Quick delivery and the sling will be perfect for taking my camera on hikes. What a great idea! Quality strap and fasteners.

Get the BlackRapid Cross Shot instead!
My camera + lens are a bit heavy, and I was looking for something better than my old neck strap for hiking. I bought this and liked it. The strap distributed the weight pretty well and my camera was very accessible. The setup works fine with my longish lens, Canon 70-300L with hood. This strap was a huge improvement over my old neck strap, and a vest carrier that I had tried previously. The major downside was that it is cumbersome to take the pack off and on using this strap, and for where I hike the pack has to come off every so often. The other problem is you can't use this as a stand alone strap. Since I liked this strap I bought the BlackRapid Cross Shot. It turns out I prefer the Cross Shot under my backpack more than this dedicated backpack strap. It is safer for my camera that I can take the pack off and keep the camera on. It's easier for me to take the pack off with out the camera. And also, the camera wears more comfortably when it is not pulling on the backpack straps. This strap got me to the strap I really do love, the BlackRapid Cross shot, and for that it was worth every penny. The fastener will loosen over time, so get in the habit of tightening it every time you use it, and use the safety strap.

Good for a lightweight setup for hiking, as long as camera not too heavy
I had purchased this strap before but returned it because it didn't really work well with my full-size DSLR. I'm reconsidering this for an APS-C sized mirrorless camera I've been using regular BlackRapid straps for 10-15 years (back to the original strap with the L-shaped tap and before they adopted a carabiner attachment) but needed a strap for hiking. While I can and do use my standard sling worn under my backpack, I wanted to simply my setup. Unfortunately, with my Nikon D850 this sling did not work well as the weight of the camera pulled the backpack straps out of position and made it too uncomfortable for anything but the shortest of hikes. Now, however, I'm carrying a much lighter Nikon Z 50 for hiking and I've reconsidered this strap. The lighter camera doesn't pull the backpack straps out of position as much. Additionally, I also found a titanium (maybe) d-ring shackle with a screw shaft (I think they are used for purse strap attachment points but are also sold as fancy key ring holders) that I was able to use to create an easy attachment point on my backpack's shoulder strap for the upper end of the camera sling. Finally, I wish they made a QD version of this strap like they do for the BlackRapid Sport. To retrofit this strap, you need to disassemble (or just cut off) the bottom end of the strap to swap out the carabiner swivel to a QD swivel (such as the one made by MagPul) and then resew the end. Alternatively, you can just add a QD adapter to the end of the existing carabiner (get one mounted to a D-ring to minimize sliding back and forth), but that adds to how much your camera dangles as well as to the weight of your gear. I'd much rather they just make a version with a QD in the first place.

Amazing for Hiking and Backpacking!
I've used a sport breathe strap from BR for years, but it's not too comfortable once you put a backpack over it. This solves the problem! Connect it up to the load lifter on one side and the lower strap on the other and you're good to go. The package seems really small for the price, but it works great and is solid.

A big improvement over the original black rapid straps
I normally wear a camera vest that happens to have D rings on both the front and back of the shoulders. I ordered two of these, and I can now carry two cameras by simply clipping them to the vests D rings without having to have all of the additional shoulder pads/straps/etc of a traditional two camera carrying strap. The locking slides are a big improvement over the original Black Rapid design, and it helps minimize camera swing while moving around quite a bit better. Very happy with my purchase.

Also converts backpack to a dual harness camera system!
Just noting that you don't have to deploy the strap in the the way the manufacturer recommends. I recently used two of these straps on a road trip, one on each side of the backpack. This allowed me to carry two cameras with me (telephoto and wide angle) on nature hikes through forests, caves, beaches, rivers and sand dunes in northern California. In my case I used an Arc'teryx Alpha FL 45 backpack, but any backpack with loops at the shoulder would work. Tips: 1. I would strongly recommend using threadlocker to secure the screws into your camera if you are going to do intensive outdoor stuff....as the camera move about for hours the screws can come loose (it's not a design flaw...any screws would come loose with repeated stress). 2. I used Velcro cable ties to roll up and secure the dangly bits after the strap was adjusted to my frame. The strap is very well made. Highly recommended.

Best backpack camera strap out there!
After much research and trials, I settled on this strap for use on a 27 mile backpacking trip last summer. I like how the strap balanced the weight of the camera between both backpack shoulder straps, not placing all the weight of the camera on only one shoulder. I think the only thing that would make it better would be some sort of light camera case that would protect your camera. The trail is dusty and dirty. Sometimes it rains. And you have to be very careful not to bang your camera around when walking through limbs or taking your pack on or off. I have cases designed to cover the camera but none would work with the way the Black Rapid strap connects to the camera which is via the tripod connection at the bottom of the camera. Black Rapid needs to offer a padded case to work with this system then it would be perfect. Still, the strap system is by far the best of all I tried. As far as I know, none of the other strap systems come with camera cases either. It was an expensive strap but did a great job supporting the camera. I am keeping my fingers crossed that someday Black Rapid will make a compatible case in the future.

Absolutely terrible product. Not designed very well , a bit heavy, and broke within minutes of taking it out of the package. I’ll be sticking with my Peak Design system it seems.

Just what I needed, Thanks
