Unisex 1460 Leather 8 Eye Boot

These Dr. Martens are the Cadillacs of workwear for your feet! The boots arrived the morning after I ordered them. Thank you Amazon workers! Upon opening the box, the room filled with a pleasant leather aroma as the boots came into view. I instantly strapped them on and proceeded with a bit of new-boot-goofin’ around the house. Convinced in a moment they were next to godly in appearance, fit, and feel (oxford comma: the only correct way to punctuate) I set about for the rest of the day doing chores as I periodically garnered an appreciative view of them laced to my trotters. I would exclaim it was like walking on a cloud of air, but I don’t want to sound too cliché. I’ll just say the experience transported me from my small Kansas farm to an endless, plushly carpeted paddock of northern England. As you can probably surmise, these are my first Dr. Martens. I’ll definitely be ordering more! As for those who claim these boots require a break-in period, don’t be a silly goose. The full grain Crazy Horse leather is thick, yet supple and compliant. My only complaint is that, likely due to the leather dying process, the boots were as dry as a popcorn fart and required nourishing with a concoction of waxes and oils I like to apply to all my leather goods as they dry out from continual use. But now all is well.

Classic boot, perfect grunge look

I've had docs in black that I bought in my normal size 8. They were quite big. So when I wanted to try another pair, I got black patent in 7. They fit but they are a bit tight. I decided to try some brown boots. I ordered an 8, thinking about my patent leather pair that was tight. At the last minute, I also ordered a 7 to see if they might fit differently since they are a less stiff leather than patent. The 7 fit my regularly sized 8 foot like a glove! There is a breaking in period - the tops cut into my legs but I expect that will lessen after a bit. My left foot is slightly larger than my right, and the heel cup digs into the back of my ankle, but nothing drastic. This, too, I expect to go away in time. Overall, the brown leather is gorgeous and the boots fit amazing. There isn't as much arch support as I might like, as a former ballerina with super high arches. But I'm hoping the sole will mold to my foot shape as time goes on. If not, I can use some inserts, no biggie.

First let me say the 1460 Cherry Red Arcadia is a gorgeous color. It's difficult to photograph, but what you see is really what you get. This is a beautiful deep glossy color that goes with a lot of things. I get so many complements on these boots. I haven't scuffed them yet, but evidently the scuffs show up as red. Now - sizing - I normally wear a 9.5-10 US women's in boots, depending on the toe box shape. If you're trying to decipher all the sizes, and are normally a half-size - I feel your frustration. Order with the expectations of returning to try different sizes/country of origin. Most international size charts have a women's US size 9.5-10 equivalent to a Euro size 40. But the Doc Marten website has women's US size 10 listed as a Euro 42. Big difference. I trusted the Doc Marten website and ordered a 42/US 10 women's/8 UK. They were HUGE. My feet were swimming in them. I had a good inch of space in front of my toes. Exchanged for a 41/US 9W (women's not wide)/7 UK. They sent the wrong color (Rouge Smooth) and wrong size (42/10 W/8 UK) But it fit like a dream. perfect fit. It felt a full size smaller than the one I returned, but was the same size. (WTF!?) I returned them because my heart was set on the Cherry Red Arcadia. unfortunately, I did not check the country of origin for either one of these boots. I finally ended up with a 41/US 9 W/ 7 UK, Cherry Red Arcadia made in Thailand. They are in fact just a tiny bit short for me. Ideally they would be a 9.5. My toes are almost too close to the front of the toe box. But everywhere else the fit was wonderful. I was so happy to get this color and tired of shipping shoes so I kept them and removed the insoles. Which works to give the front of my foot a little extra space. When laced tightly in the ankle my foot stays far enough back that my toes don't touch the front. As others have mentioned, the way the sizes run may in fact depend on the country of origin. So in summary, I'm essentially a 9.5 US women's, and a 41/ 7 UK fit is like a 9 US in length and fits more like a 10 US in the rest of the boot (width, heel, etc - these are roomy boots - which I like!) Classic, durable, and stylish. A brief break-in period, but once they’re broken in, they’re incredibly comfortable and go with everything. Worth the investment.

Mil dudas para la compra, pues todas las opiniones inciden en pedir un número menos pero claro, siempre se tienen dudas.... Finalmente pedí un 41 y no el 42 que uso y me quedan como un guante, exacto el número, queda casi un centímetro delante del dedo más grande, lo he probado con calcetín grueso y con fino, creo que el número es el correcto. Las botas son totales, no brillan, son mate y eso es lo que buscaba, son más flexibles que las anteriores, las típicas 1460, lo cual hace que te adaptes sin más a ellas. Las veo más delicadas de modo que las protejo con crema sobre todo cuando llueve. Tardaron, pero llegaron antes de lo previsto. Perfecto.
