My geldings shoeboil has shrunken alot. It seems to work. But since its hard for him to walk with it. He only wears it in the barn at night. (When he lies down anyway)

My 3-year old suddenly developed a gigantic shoe boil. The vet recommended a shoe boil donut. I was VERY skeptical, but after 5 weeks of him wearing it 24/7, it almost completely disappeared. There's a little bit of loose skin where it was (and he has a winter coat now so I can't precisely see.) but the swelling is gone. It has been more than 3 months now and it has not come back. I was amazed that it didn't bother him at all after the first 5 minutes and he didn't mind me taking it off or putting it on him. (I did take it off to ride him.) I would recommend confining your horse to a stall. I would not feel comfortable turning him out just in case he managed to get it tangled up in a fence or something. I wrapped it in vet wrap every couple of days and took it off and dried it if it got wet. I only used it during summer. I am not sure that I would be comfortable using it on my horse if he were getting it wet and the temperatures were freezing. I would worry about the potential for frostbite. It was amazingly durable and held up really well. Pro tip: When you are putting it on and taking it off, do not put your head directly in front of his front knee or your horse will knock you out if he flexes his knee.

I have a 17 h HEAVY warmblood who suddenly developed shoe boils on elbow. I put these on too late, but they did work on the less severe side immediately and the lanced side is mostly better now 4 months later. She wears these 24/7 without rubs on ankles. She abuses them, and they are starting to crack after 4 months. Buying 2-3 sets a year is fine with me over getting a boil lanced at $300 per time. 5 stars!

Seems well made and good quality. My gelding wore it once. Once. I'm not surprised. He's a spaz about that sort of stuff. Thankfully the shoe boil is finally decreasing in size. Probably would've happened faster if my horse would've cooperated!

Works great on our TWH that his hoof hits his elbow area when getting up from lying down.
